Just a small heads-up that my oldie but (hopefully) goldie Luftwaffe BoB campaign "Storm over England" has been subjected to a big overhaul.

For those of you who havent seen it, "Storm over England 2.0" is a semi-historical, static 24-mission campaign, set during the Battle of Britain 1940. You are a German fighter pilot stationed at the Channel Coast, flying the Messerschmitt Bf109E. The missions spans all the major phases of the Battle of Britain from the German side.

You can download it here: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=269

The campaign starts in July 1940 with the so called "Kanalkampf", when the Luftwaffe and the RAF fought for domination of the English Channel, and the Luftwaffe won, closing these waters for convoys. It then continues withe the action in August until early September, when the German airforce primarily attacked the English airfields of RAF and came pretty near to breaking Fighter Command. After this phase three follows, when the Luftwaffe switched to attacking English cities in general, and London in particular. (This soon proved to be an error.) And finally there is phase four, starting in early October, when the German bombers due to heavy losses switched to nighttime attacks, and German fighter-bombers started performing hit-and-run raids in the south of England, merely as a sort of tactical diversion. (The German fighter pilots hated this innovation.)

Most mission have been tweaked in some way, often just altering the timeframe of the appearance of the different RAF units. I've also added a random element to two patrol missions - sometimes the RAF just stays on the ground, and refuses to fight on your terms, as in 1940. Also I've added three new missions, plus four new interlude movies.

Thanks for looking! smile

Hi Poltava!

Downloaded, installed and played first three missions. Good work! Nice and finished in every detail, IMHO. Superb Channel map! Eventually a true european one after all those fakes... I beg pardon, but I grew in Battle of England myth, the "mother of all aerial battles", where destiny of Europe was decided. Secondarily, I took some confidence with history of Pacific air war, since it was much an aeronaval one and because american influence on post war Europe. Can't orientate myself in eastern theatre; when I see those maps of Rhzev or Kursk still can't figure where they are: I'm ignorant - barely I know where is Moscow on a map of Europe and this deprives game mood. Sorry for digression.

Much crowded air battles in Storm over England and, incredibly, my FPS remain high! Thrilling take-off and landings from St. Omer Wizernes: I'm able to raise undercarriage just before trespassing runway end, as well as I land stopping a few dozens metres from it. Arport layout is finely detailed with kind of objects I'd never seen before in this game. This greatly increase atmosphere (immersion).

I would only point out a couple of things: "strap" from runway to big hangar (like in attached map, which is current St. Omer Wizernes airport) is "jagged" in some tile joint (very minor glitch).

Also, in first three missions I played clouds are often thick and at same level of my flight, hampering to see both mates and enemies.

Heartily thank you and all involved persons for giving us this gem!

Regards,
GB

I get stuck on 19th mission: when trying to load 20th after video clip, system locks up on wait screen.

It's me or a campaign bug?

Quick test: open mission 20 in FMB, then just save, then have another go.

I did it and no juice. Due to mission numbering, though, 20th mission is actually No.16.
