About 11.15 pm last night , walked out onto the balcony and saw the biggest flaming aerial object i have ever seen.I have a huge area of sky and the house is in the highest area in the suburb so its cool for just plain old star gazing. A big yellow flame burst out of nowhere , directly in front of me, going North to South.. if you extend your hand out in front of your face and give a thumbs up signal..it was nearly as big as your nail, seriously. Burned for about 4-5 seconds with lots of smaller bits , and one one large piece ,breaking off and burning away to nothing. The only colour i can really remember seeing vividly was the massive splash of yellow flame that surrounded the whole object, it did not have a long tail like the skinny little 'shooting stars' that you commonly see, but it did have a slight greeness about it as well.I was wondering if it was some space junk or just a chunk of rock. I could not find anything about it on the net this morning , even at the meteor report sites who i thought those types (stargazers) would be all over it. Whatever it was it was really cool to see

Yeah same. I expected it to be on the news ..at least a scrap of a report anyway, but nada. They go nuts over small showers that you can barely see then this massive thing lights up the sky and no one seems to notice it lol. The only thing i can find that is even closely related is this report here from three days ago and thousands of k's away. METEOR OVER VICTORIA Looking at the video it does not seem as big as the one we seen although it burned for a lot longer. The thing that spun us out was all the smaller bits that were breaking of it and burning up, especially the bigger piece.
