Flash keeps crashing and/or slowing down, drastically. I have done the "about:plugins" thing and followed the instructions, but the problem persists.

I have two Flash entries in the "remove programs" section of Control Panel, "Adobe Flash Player 10 Active X", and "Adobe Flash Player 10 Plugin".

I am thinking I should uninstall both entries, and just re-install Adobe Flash?? Or switch browsers? I used to be a Firefox fan, but went with Chrome some years ago and haven't had any issues until now. (I guess I use Flash mostly (?) for listening to radio online, live and podcasts.)

Any advice?

Chrome does not use the installed versions of Flash that install on Windows. It has it's own internal Flash decoder. There has been instances where updates have broken Flash in Chrome. In this case, uninstalling Chrome and reinstall is what I would do. Make a backup of your settings first (you need to "sign in" Chrome to your Gmail account for this.)

I had that the other day.

Video was playing at like 60% and choppy..

Because I had something else open hogging the Hardware Decoder, and another video using the software decoder, and apparently neither of them wanted to let go.

I ended up C-A-D, and ending process on Chrome, and the other program using Flash (FireFox I think it was), and re-opening Chrome.

Flash has been unreliable off and on for a few months now. Seems to be their fault though, not Firefox. Once I get it ok I stop the auto updates.

I had to reinstall FireFox, fixed my crashes.
Crashed once a day, at least.

Now all is well.
It only takes about 15 minutes....try that first.

Fixed my problems.

Apparently, the industry is moving away from Flash, albeit slowly (been "moving" for a couple years). Microsoft, Apple, Firefox are among those leading the way. Why? It has a lot of issues -- security and function.

Adobe is even phasing it out. Adobe no longer updating Flash for Android mobile devices. Some Android devices automatically uninstall Flash -- requires a manual reinstall in some cases (e.g. my ASUS Transformer Infinity tablet).

But, not dead yet as not everyone has made the switch.

HTML 5 is faster and more Secure than FLASH.
