Oh please help me. Its been awhile since I've had any of my sims going therefore its also been awhile since I've had a TIR setup. My original TIR 3 Pro I eventually got positioned right several years ago. I actually had to mount it on the wall behind my pc to get a good 3 feet from it so that my head tracking remained in the widest cone section of the TIR scope. Too close and you'd clip out easy.

I now have a TIR 4 Pro that I bought from a SimHQ member and I'm starting to think I need to do the same for this. No matter what I do currently, its all over the board. Won't track, slows down, starts to work, clips out left right up and down and does not function at all. I actually lifted my hat up in front of the sensor and doing that I could find that sweet spot. So I think I need to move the unit back again.

I love TIR but I hate how it never just works right out of the box. Plus I really dislike the newer software for it. The old software that I remember and was most comfortable with just had the white boxes and image of a manican looking head. Now its a black back ground with grid lines and its very confusing to me.

Has the TIR5 gotten any better noticably than its predecessors? Is there anything else other than a cap and the pro clip I can use that might be better.

Need some suggestions. I'm starting to think I just need to pull out my old TIR3Pro.

you can put 3 IR LEDs on a Hat an use that, or make you own 3-point track clip.

i just tried what you said you do, and put mine behind my screens and about a foot above, and it gives me alot higher range of motion when looking up or down, it's about 18 inches further away then it would be on the screens, guess i make a mount to mount it there, Mine also moves around on top of my screens alot

I never had luck putting it on top of a monitor. Unless its changed, 3 feet or close to it is a sweet spot. The TIR sends out a cone shaped signal with the point coming from the device and the base of the projection shoots out to where you sit. Therefore if you are in the meat of the signal there's lots of room to move and look even all the way to the sides. If you are too close and lets say use the 6DOF function to lean out of a cockpit you'll actually lean out of the signal and clip.

I never liked having the monitor back too far so to get the TIR further away from me, not the screen away from me, I had to mount it on the wall behind the monitor to gain that distance. I want to try to make me a telescopic(therefore adjustable) stand with a heavy base to place behind my monitor if I can.

Check that your TIR is plugged straight into the motherboard and not on a USB hub? My TIR5 acts funny when it's on a hub, but no problems when on the board.

Also, my TIR is about 2-3 feet from me, no problems, but I use the Track Clip Pro.

TIR5 has increased FoV over TiR3,4 and 4 Pro.

I do have it plugged into the back. I think my spacing is just off. But maybe I need to hook up the 3 just make sure the 4 is indeed properly working.

Does anyone have a link to the last version of the TIR software that was the original user interface? I know its not the latest up to date version but I was much more comfortable with the older software.

On the website, you can download two versions of the software. For some reason, the older version of V5 would crap out on me and I'd have to use V4 to get my TIR5 to work... but then later on, V5 would work again! Some sort of Windows problem maybe. But have a try of V4 if you want, though I don't see why you don't want to work with V5.

Here's a how-to video as well to help you:
