In case no one's seen the latest, WoT 7.1 is now on NA servers and you get a Tetrach VII light tank for free, in addition to an extra garage slot that the Tetrach now occupies. Also, 7.1 introduces the French line of tanks, many having auto loaders, speed but weak armor values.
You get the Tetrach by typing NEWYEARNA into your account. I suspect its only the code for the North American server. EU server may be NEWYEAREU, but check your server website.
Please let me know your thougts. I have a feeling there will be many more French tanks for the next few weeks and as the newness dies off, others tanks will come into play again. I know I have 110,000 experience just waitign to start up the new French light and medium line.

Is that code good for the European servers too? It says incorrect code for me.

Chcuky, my fault, was using the originally released code, please note the NA server code is NEWYEARNA, all upper case and no spaces. I suspect EU server differnce is just EU instead of NA on the end of the code.
Please let me know how you like the changes. looking forward to some new battles tonight when I get home.

After getting a wee bit burned out and dropping the game for a while, I came back to not only a zippy free tank with a nice gun (the Tetrarch), but a free T1 Frenchie in the garage as well!
Taking the bait, I dumped pretty all the free XP I had saved up into getting up to the T4/5 range of the French line - I'm going to elite the AMX 40 before actually buying it (its a habit of mine to do that as I hate grinding away for modules while in a tank; kind of like buying ahead) but am beebopping around in an AMX 38 in the meantime.
I'm impressed by just how tough French tanks are armor-wise up this point, but these babies are the epitome of tanks needing other tanks to live. Slow (my Matilda is faster, if that give you any idea how slow), and undergunned for the most part but if you get a group of 'em together then watch out. Like a mobile Maginot Line, in a way.
Case in point: Came against 2 AMX 38s and 1 AMX 40. The 40 had the 75mm and the 38s had 37mms. The 38s pinned me while the 40 pounded away and in short order, I was toast in my own 38. Prior to that point, I had traded shots with all of the above group but did little to no damage to any of them prior to the close-quarters action.
3 against 1 was not good odds at all, and I fully deserved to die but I have to point out that after punching my ticket, this group went on to savage a few more on my side as well using the same tactics. Tactics (and armor) makes these tanks formidable despite their guns and slow speed against most pick-up-and-play drivers in my opinion.
