So far I've got DCS:World with Combined Arms and, recently, Flaming Cliffs 3.

My question is how you guys are playing the sim in single player. I spent a good part of the last couple of weeks goofing around with quick missions in Combined Arms, and it's fun enough to bounce around from group to group and gun things down in tanks and APCs. I got FC3 on Friday and spent a lot of yesterday trying it out. I'm having trouble figuring out a way to enjoy it in single player, though.

The quick mission builder seems to always create my flight as a single flight without a wingman. I know this is easy enough to fix. But the quick missions start pretty close to the action and, overall, it's not a very satisfying experience.

Are you guys flying quick missions? Are you flying downloaded single missions and campaigns?

I tried a little multiplayer as well, but the servers seemed rather dead (Saturday afternoon Hawaii time) and, again, it just wasn't very satisfying.

I already own the sim so it's not about whether I should buy it, rather, I'm just trying to figure out what everyone else is doing to enjoy it.

I only play multiplayer mostly when people are on from SimHQ in a server that blooze hosts or if enos is populated which has not been when I've been on lately

I always play single player. I just create quick missions or mess around in the editor.

I haven't thought very highly of the offline content in DCS except a handful of single missions and the non-dymanic Ka-50 campaign Deployment. Have you searched the ED file resource on their website for usermade missions?

Unfortunately, there are very few user-created missions on the DCS website for Flaming Cliffs 3, ditto for Lockonfiles, and I haven't found any on the Checksix-fr site yet (though my French is so rusty that I may very possibly have just been looking in the wrong section), so pretty much your best bet right now is to go at it yourself with the mission editor.

The campaigns are ok for sp but this sim is ment for mp. Nothing beats flying with humans. Try firehouse, hollopointe, or blooze festival servers and use SimHQ teamspeak to coordinate with which one everyone is on. I notice most people in the us show up at around 1400 or 1700 pst for me, and fly til 2100. There's a pretty good mix of scenarios, definately has kept my attention the past few months.

I'm actually logging most of my DCS time with the A10c getting proficiency in Airport operations in different weather and the same with weapon delivery.

Can you maintain constant parameters during Touch&Go?
Can you already employ correctly EVERY weapon system?
Can you land on one engine power with crosswind?
Can you determine the threat of items appearing on your RWR, FAST?

I keep asking myself this question, keep putting me on the line, keep challenging me...
Before thinking about campaigns (never even started one...) I want to be sure I can face whatever I get thrown in my face.

So far I'm 60% confident. biggrin
