Hey gang,
I have been learning to use the Script Editor in TARGET for my Warthog.
I see there is a way to have a macro file for the script, coming from the Cougar I was certainly familiar with creating macro files for Foxy.

The Script Editor does not spend much time explaining working with a macro file, and the examples it gives show using the USB Keycode in a macro for the keypress, rather than the keypress itself.
Is that required, one has to use usb codes for a macro file??

You guys that are using the script editor, do you prefer to also have a macro file or do you find it easier to just have the TMC file?

Thanks for any tips,

No, you don't have to use a macro file in order to use USB codes and USB codes can go in the scipt file.

As far as using a macro file goes, I prefer it as I can put all of the commands in the macro and then my script has the macro names instead of the keystrokes so it's easier for me to read.

Thanks for the reply kadiir!

My question was more, do I have to use USB Codes in the Macro file, rather than the actual keystroke names?
Like say the a key generates the autopilot in my sim.
Can I use the a to designate this in the macro, or do I have to look up the USB code for the a key and use it instead?
In the Script Editor Manual, the examples it gives for macros all show using USB codes rather than the actual key names, which is why I ask.

Thanks,

Don

You don't have to use the USB codes in the macro file.

That said, I have had a situation where the actual key wasn't working consistently and when I changed it to the USB code it worked fine. But I've also had it where the actual key worked fine.

Sweet, that is good to hear. The manual is really pretty vague when it comes to creating Macro files for use with the TMC files.

Thanks so much!

I'm considering rewriting my TARGET scripts to use external macros but I don't want to be limited to simple USB codes only. Is it possible to add DX buttons and complex code to these macro definitions?
