I think they priced themselves right out of the market. For the people that can afford these, they probably have better and more fun things to do and won't even have any interest.

So uh...when someone ponies up the cash for one of these, please let us know if it's worth a few grand! I will not be one of those "someone". Smile2

There are two versions, which are the following:

Paccus Hawk: 2,397 Euros
Paccus Falcon: 1,647 Euros

From their FAQ:

Why are these sticks much higher priced than expected?

Earlier in the development process we thought about mass production. Later we realized we don’t want to compromise on the quality. Not on a single aspect.

So what you get is:

- Expensive brushless motors – these are not subject to wear.
- Contactless HALL effect sensors – high resolution (12 bits), no wear.
- Zero backlash.
- No wear.
- No deadzone.
- No fixed centerpoint.
- Reliable, expensive materials – long lasting.
- CNC-ed aluminium grip.
- Any color you like on the anodized aluminium.
… and above all: the most realistic flying or gaming experience!

Hmm, $3400 USD. Thats a lot of money.

The cons I see with it, other than price is that it must be desk center mounted if you want to make use of the buttons as per their instructions. That and the lack of buttons on the stick itself. I dont even see why they put a fire button on the stick as that is the only button on it, it's really not a stick for combat sims as I see it.

I don't expect them to make a product and then price it out of the market so there must be some big expenses in there, probably in the manufacturing as the components don't make anywhere near that much $$.

Not to mention the ergonomics look questionable at best.

I can think of a lot better ways to spend 3000 bucks. That's rediculous.

That's a disappointment. When they showed pictures of the stick, I thought it was just a mock up, and they would put a REAL stick handle, that's actually usable in before the went into production.

Plus you still need a throttle, rudder pedals, and we have no idea if we'll see REAL software supporting the stick. A harsh blow is also dealt by poor FF support in CloD.

Sorry Paccus, but the above are all requirements if you want to play the premium peripheral game.

If it was a generic stick, with a more tactical layout like the G940 or suncom talon, I could see paying $500. The reason being that with decent software, this could be both a FF stick, and an adjustable rate "static" stick, as it lacks an FF deadzone. It would indeed be the last stick you'd ever have to own.

As is, they're charging $2000+ (I'm not even bothering to go look up the current conversion rate) for a WWII style stick, when the latest WWII game won't even really support it.

Not only is the stick that expensive, but they didn't even change the design...seriously, why so many buttons on the base instead of the handle, where they belong?

I'm sure left-handed folks would appreciate the ambidextrous design, at least, but I honestly would've preferred a handle with as much or more functionality than an F-16C's. (Or they could make a Ka-50 handle...DCS: Black Shark really benefits from FFB because of the trim system.)

In the meantime, I'll stick with my highly modified Cougar + MS SWFFB2 (red/2nd-gen) setup.

they could have made it Cougar / warthog handle compatible to make it more appealing.

The stick doesn't offer anything revolutionary except (guessing here) high fidelity FF. And for that price, I'd rather buy 10x MSFF2 sticks which have proven them selves over 10 years of use and are recognized by the community as a benchmark for quality.

I can not predict anything else other than failure for this product because of its 'biblical' price.

I've always wanted a high fidelity FFB stick.

However the whole reason I gave up my FFB2 was due to lack of buttons on the stick combined with buttons on the base being useless.

When your right hand is maneuvering the stick, and your left hand is on your throttle, how are we meant to press the buttons on the base? With our nose???

Base buttons are kind of ok on a throttle but not on a stick. That is, unless it's an entry-level stick for people who just need something to play games and won't have a throttle or view control in left hand.

I wonder how much they invested in research and development

I just recently send them an email suggesting some features for the HAWK 2 so it will become something worth buying. Maybe you all should too. It would be a pity if all the effort they put into developing this new FFB model would not result in THE joystick.

so long

They just built a stick with no projected market for it. Then they priced themselves insanely high. I guess they'll sell a couple to curious gamers with more cash then sense, but not enough to break even. Pity.

It's such a niche product, but they didn't shoot for any sims available now so it'll be very hard to sell.
