Hi all

Have done a google search, seems stuff has dried up on this topic. I could not access tutorials at brewsterbuffalo.com, which is what I was looking for. Its how to use the Saitek X45 throttle seperately from the Joystick. My Joystick on the X45 packed up years ago, of course I did not through the entire unit out. So wondering, how to dissaemble the joystick just keeping the guts of the thing that makes the whole unit work. Purely, with the joystick on, the whole thing is rather unwieldy. So any instructions, in very simple terms (I have ZERO electronic background) on how to to take the joystick off the control unit would be most appreciated.

I had the same problem with the Cougar HOTAS. The throttle and software are awesome, but preferred using the MSFF2 joystick. I just opened up the Cougar joystick, removed the circuit board/connections, and put them in a small box. I keep the joystick in a box in the closet if I ever want to build a new joystick as the handle was nice. That said, you just gave me the idea of putting that handle, maybe even the circuit board/software in a new joystick I've ordered. http://galactic-pancakes.com/ IF NECCESSARY

Chivas,

As I remember, the tuto' in Bufalo's is for rewire X-45 throttle with a new USB card (BU0836 or similar).

Article pictures is lost: http://web.archive.org/web/20090528101434/http://www.brewsterbuffalos.com/x45/

X-45 throttle (like Cougar Throttle) is "brainless" have only wires and diodes (matrix) internal,
no circuit controller, it is in joystick base.

If you combo (joy+throttle) still work, but joy lost precision, what people do is remove
circuit from joy and install and throttle base, creating a standalone throttle, and put some
additional switchs, new pots+knobs for trim using previous josytick function. Samples:

(If I remember this last was done by Bearcat).

If you joy dont work anymore (is not seem by Windows), you can rewire the throttle to a new USB controller
(BU0836, DSoO, Arduino Tensy 2.0 (need write firmware).

In this case the best is remove all original wires, leaving only switchs, pots and create a new wiring accord the new controller. Is not difficult, but require planing.

Try understand and use original wires is headache (I find this rewiring Gameport CH, Suncon and Thrustmaster to USB).

WOW...Soko1, the USB adapter for the Cougar Throttle looks awesome, but I can't tell from the description exactly how they activate the extra buttons, or if the Foxy or Target programming software can still be used.

I did the buffalo rewire on my old x45 throttle with a Bodnar board.
The tutorial was very good and the whole process was fairly easy.
I left off the diode to keep it simple

I used that set up for a good few years with a MSFFB2 stick.
