I made a thread asking how is the AESA radar interface look like, and it vanished without a trace, it's gone from my posts/threads created list!!!???!!!??? dizzy

why?

if I'm not mistaken the replies were that AESA radar would look like bird eye radar or something

if anyone want to add things to the discussion, feel free to post WinkNGrin

It would look like a standard radar scope but with near real-time updates of all targets and insanely fast scan rate. You'd lose the antenna azimuth and elevation indications since they are no longer needed.

Or you could just send the data straight to a SIT display.

So, a B-scope, but with those differnces? I remember this good Raytheon article once that detailed methods that pilots would use on the FA-18E to draw "volumetric search zones" and "search sectors" and what not. Too bad I didn't favorite it when I had the chance, long gone now.

Like I said, it's just data flying in from a radar. You can display it on an existing display format - such a B-Scope, but with some additional capabilities (such as your EA volumes being shown), or you can send that data to any other kind of display that you may find useful.

I've read that aesa radar able to display both air and ground targets simultaneously, but wouldn't that result in pilot need to declutter it? in other word, pointless?

It depends on how it's presented. MSA's can do this as well, as long as they are sufficiently advanced.
