Of course, all opinions are IMHO and YMMV! I have had GT5 since release date. I only play it occasionally these days. I think enjoying or hating any game depends on what you may find of interest in the title. As a console driving/racing game is it very good, but compared to what is available on the PC I find GT5 to be seriously lacking. I only have played F1 2010 (PS3) and I enjoy this game much more (bugs and all!!) than GT5. However, I go to these games for racing and I find myself still playing F1 2010 much more frequently than GT5 GT5 Good points: physics (console game) variety of cars tracks graphics Works well with Logitech wheel bad points (which have so much weight that I rarely touch the game): Lots of grinding for money (maybe some cheats available?) AI is awful Seems more of a car collection game than a driving simulator online racing is a crash-fest for pickup games need to unlock content (pet peeve of mine in any game! LOL) btw...I just read that GT5 is to be rereleased as SpecII (Feb 2012 if you can wait) with new cover and more content a: http://jalopnik.com/gran-turismo-5/

post and comments on GT5 in the console forum. Just FYI.
Does that mean that by the same logic, F1 2010 / 2011, Dirt 2/3 ... and other console games that are racing simulations with the same physics on the PC-port, ... should be posted or moved to the console forum?

Yeah lots of GT5 past posts in console subforum over the last year.
Personally I am a fan of GT5, but admittedly it is a mixed bag here is a quick summary:
Pros: Good Physics and FF especially for console until FM4 came out FF is good on G27, not so great on Fanatec Great track modeling especially Nordschleife Great cockpit modeling for 200 of the 800 cars Great weather and 24 lighting effects Good rally racing on gravel and snow and tarmac Fun if you like car collection games Online race hosting is pretty good and with quite a few options Supports endurance races all the way up to 24hr races if you feel so inclined
Cons: Only 200 of the 800 cars have detailed cockpits, the other 600 cars had no cockpit view until recently and even now it is just a basic HUD cockpit camera Menus system is overly convoluted Career system makes it so you can't drive higher level cars until you level up and earn enough to buy the cars Career at late phase becomes a grind (you have to repeat events to progress) No online leaderboards or rival mode
Overall I think it was the best console racing sim/game until FM4 arrived, now that FM4 is here I play that more often because overall it is a better game with better physics and career and money generation, but I still come back to GT5 sometimes for the awesomely modeled Nordschelife and the 24hr lighting and weather effects.
Coming from PC sims to GT5 I think the biggest difference is the locked career mode, you can drive any car in the "Arcade mode" but within the "GT career" mode it takes a good amount of time investment to unlock the better cars and earn enough to buy them, there are no cheats or unlocks or DLC to get past that unfortunately, the only game I can think of on the PC that was similar was GT Legends until an eventual cheat was leaked out due to all the complaining about having to spend hours to access the better cars... I loved GTL by the way and didn't use the cheat so that tells you why I am ok with GT5's tough career. This turns many PC simmers away though who are used to most PC sims where you can usually pick any car and any track and then go race, it is possible in GT5 but only outside the career mode.

Multiplayer is decent, but really depends on who joins your session, there's some decent people on there and then lots of console racers who seem not very serious about being clean, mainly it depends on how the session host manages the session and whether the idiots get kicked or not.
I only have F1-2010 and won't pick up 2011 until its bargain bin due to patching history, but I think the GT5 physics are better than F1 2010 at least.
The formula cars there are ok but nothing special IMHO, they seem to have lots of downforce and good handling compared to the other cars, I don't drive them often, mostly only in the few career formula events that I needed to complete to progress, in most sims I am more a fan of tintops than formula cars (the iRacing Skip Barber being the main exception). Formula cars don't come into play until very late in the career, so if you are looking mainly for formula racing you may be frustrated before getting that far.
GT5 is 1 year old now and since it doesn't come with any DLC or online codes that I recall, so you may just want to try and rent or buy a used copy in case you don't like it, otherwise there's supposed to be some new version coming that includes the DLC pack that was recently released (spa and a bunch of GT cars)
