Hey Thomas DW, That looks amazing ! I gotta ask what kind of pc specs does one need to run FSX on max settings. I'm asking because I'm not rich but I'm putting together a new pc so I can enjoy some of these great new flight sims on near Max settings. I'm getting ready to buy the Graphics cards right now.

Great Job it looks super good, I hope to be enjoying it myself in the next month.

this is what I am using

Quote:
Intel DX58SO, Intel Core i7 920 Quad Core 2.66GHz, 4 GB 1333 RAM (CORSAIR XMS3 2x2GB PC3-10600 1333MHz), 2x500GB RAID 0, WinXP Pro, Nvidia GeForce GTX285 1 GB .

this kind of scenery is very FPS friendly, because there are few object in it, so you can max out the effects and set FPS to 30 and get no stutters.

Well...I'm working on Kauai now. Plenty of places to fly from there. smile Should be another few months before release. Kauai is definitely more involved than Niihau.

But I did package a saved flight with Niihau for those who don't want to make the flight from Kauai.

latest build of Ironhand's Kauai terrain: this is from a round trip I made, taking off from Princeville airport in Kauai

I'd love to see how it looks down low, to get an idea of the resolution. Looks stunning from up high!

Do the buildings have auto gen over them or is it just flat photoscenery?

hope its got autogen that would be so cool. PS, you gotta post this stuff over at other place like outhouse.

I think that would make it too heavy on FPS

shouldnt bee that heavy with a sprinkling of auto gen in certain areas, alot of photo scenery now is adding autogen, i think its worth it for the towns.

Great stuff maybe I should get a copy of FSX......... that only thing holding me back is not being able to blow stuff up. But if I go through with getting my PPL it'll be a worthwhile tool for learning.....

I've got a bad feeling about this.....

I have mixed feelings about using autogen with good photoscenery. I can understand that it helps provide a more three dimensional effect. OTOH, most of it detracts rather than enhances because, generally, its coloration, etc differs from the rest of the scenery, isn't positioned on top of photoscenery buildings, etc. The only time I've ever seen it work well is with the default FSX scenery.

Of course, it'd be yet one more thing to learn how to do. Some it might be fun. I'll look into it, though. If it can be added sparingly, it might be worth adding some for people who don't like flying without it. On Niihau I added individual objects sparingly to yield a three dimensional effect in the island's only town. But Kauai is too populated for that approach.

Yes you can add it so that appears ontop of photo buildings. Would look reallly good.
