I guess it was because destroyer was alone. I wonder how the chances stack against the sub if the hunters are x2.

Evasion what really put me off the 1st time in SH3. Remember situations where there was 4 vs. me alone. Three were triangulating and one on the DC run. And then the dance move was repeating on and on. I stood no chance. At least I think I did not.

I guess still evasion is the hardest and least fun in GWX even after all those realistic changes. I wonder is they implemented the noise blanket after DC explosions. They were interrupting listening for at least 8-10 minutes.

One more thing ... I read also that new tactics under GWX would involve observing convoy before the attack and finding gaps in destroyer cover. Sounds pretty hard, but I like that.

That was the odd thing. There were 3 DDs and a Figi, the others stayed in formation with the convoy while the DD offset to my side of the convoy came looking.

It never found me...which I was really thankful for...I'm scared of being discovered. \:D

IMHO this already fine game would be even better if they included option of commanding several subs at once. Then one could organise and arrange for some Wolfpack attacks tactics where convoy protection would have really some challenge. I guess MP in SH3 does allow for wolfpack tactics?

Lol, yeah. I'm no expert sub-driver, but I know that I can run after a depth charge attack. I didn't know it took 8-10 minutes, I would do a 2-3 minute sprint-and-dive after a DC attack and the destroyers would always, always find me no matter what, even if I've gone silent. Sure, I can take that they can find me, but that was just eerie, like they always know where I am and would just DC me when they felt like it. The fact that they didn't even have to "look" for me after their DC run was annoying.

Single destoyers are no problem, I can either sink one or run from it at will, 2 or 3, they were scary, especially with that "magic" ability.

Seems like time to make room for SH3 again, nice. Been dying to learn manual targeting, always wanted to make a 2-fish, bow-and-stern attack.

Thanks for the info as I intend to install this gem on a new system when I get home.

I'm currently deployed in the middle East and don't quite have access to my PC!!!!

Just installed GWX (and uninstalled SH4 shortly after). Itīs probably one of the greatest mods out there, a lot more fun than SH4 IMHO. Try it, you will like it!
