I have just got the game, installed it, and when I try to run it, I get the UBISOFT opening logo, then a message saying 'SH III has encountered a problem and need to close'. I unistalled, re-installed and patched to V1.4 (twice), but still get the same message. No clue even as to what the problem is. I have searched the net and am aware of the variouys issues, but haven't found anything similar to my problem. I have an LG DVD ROM, CD writer and CD ROM installed. I have Nero CD copying software, but nothing else that is in any way unusual. Anyone any ideas what the problem is?

not much help here but our specs are quite similar, including X52 and Nero, my install with patch 1.4 works fine though...hope u get it runnin !!!

Be aware that just uninstalling the sim does not remove all the files. You need to go to where the game was installed and delete all leftover files and clean all traces of SHIII from your registry to fully uninstall it. Do that and then reinstall and it should work then. Believe me, it is worth the trouble.

Hmm,I believe HW3 is right.You need to delete all files pertaining to SH3,particulary registry files.I used Registry Mechanic to clean my registry when I had to reinstall SH3 on my system.Hope this is of some help.:)Cody

Thanks all. I'm going to try the intro movies tip first, then look at the registry. I'll keep you posted.

Try removing the intro and movies, just delete them and see what happen. I read somewhere of a problem about the videos. Also check http://www.subsim.com and look in the forum for the fixed problems section. You dont have something called RefreshForce enable, do you?. I had it and my Silent Hunter even started.

He got it going by removing the intro movies.
