Getting the hang of this...

This really needs more film grain but the clouds are too nice to spoil :-)

One for Bader:-)

Very good, I will have to have a play at the weekend. What filters are you using, and are you using photoshop or PSP?

Photoshop 5.0

Uses the film grain, dust & scratches with a layer mask to fade the edges. I've added a hue adjustment layer to get that "sepia" look

Wee Mac,

With a few more scratches and developing specks added most would think it was the real thing.

Is Photoshop by Adobe? Which is the most popular programme for skinning?

Beautiful

being a pedant, did you install the grey letters for the RAF aircraft? Those look rather white (and incorrect, just like the film BoB).. Sorry I'm sad.

I did have one of the IL2 109s as my wallpaper (some nice shots 'breathed on' shots on the IL2 forum) but now it's time for the BoB ones. Now, Heinkels or Hurris. Tough one.

(Love to see some more) BTW

The Hurri shot is using the grey code letters... it came out white tho - artifact...hehe

Yep PS is by Adobe - cost = £200 - 500 depending on whether upgrade or full....(huge bugger of a program but very hard to get your head round.)

PaintShop Pro = £80 - very good (easier to use than PS)

The GIMP - free. Normally runs under linux but there is a windows version available. has almost all the functionality of PS (and is similarly hard to use)

Lovely 'Wee' Mac

It really does look like gun camera footage from those Pathé (sp?) film reels.

One for the 109 drivers...

I was trying to reproduce that shot of the hurricane being attcked from the stern (the one with the exploding wing root...)

Unfortunately the "poor" AI ate my lunch...

Forgot after the IL-2 demo just how good Rowan's AI is.....

Yep. IL2 is wonderful, but there's just a certain something about dogfighting in BoB. It's hard to place..

Fantastic work. How well I recall as a young 'un, perusing those old photos and watching gun cam films. Great job.

I agree, too - it's just IMO, and to take nothing away from the IL2 AI which is excellent, but there is something about BoB AI. I think these 2 sims will set the standard for what we will look for in future combat sims from AI opponents.

But again, great photo work.

I will not lead, nor will I follow, and if you want to come through here you have 3 choices: go around; ask nicely; or bring a lunch -- you'll be here a while.

No, this looks nothing like that photo in Deighton's "Fighter"

And this weeks "Spot the Hurribus" Competition:

You're right, I can't see the Hurri at all. Very much like the famous pic with the Spit 20 yards away.

These photos are wonderful. They look like they came from a WWII book or combat footage.

Well done.
