The explosion is just stock, but the sky is AIL's sky mod available on the Subsim downloads section.

In my opinion it is the single best graphics mod for SHIII, the only limitation being the view vertically upwards.

OT - I've just installed zzzzspaces revised soundpack (I forget where I found the download link) and I HIGHLY recommend it, it used samples control room noises fron Das Boot which sound superb.

Surprisingly, only 7. They were focused in a close knit area between the smoke stacks. Some were that simple others have taken close to your guess. \:\)
