Yup, I was just following a convoy, Due East, in Grid AL62, NE of Ireland, when I saw 7 ships in a row go under, due to the waves. Conditions were: winds 15ms, no precipitation, light fog, wind direction 239.

The only ships that were left (other than the 3 I sunk previously) were C2 Cargos (about 4) and One Small Tanker. Everything else sunk on their own.....

I'm running a completley stock 1.2, with no mods whatsoever.

Anyone else see this???

I really hope this gets fixed, A.S.A.P!!!

could these ships have been damaged by another attack by air assets for instance?

often seen ships that have little visual damage but previously attacked go down in heavy seas hours later...

Definately not. Look at what patrol grid I was at. There would have been no German A/C that far out in the Atlantic. Besides I was Hitting the "show units" keys all the time scrolling through and never saw an Axis ship or A/C.

Guy's if you don't believe me one this one try it out, next convoy with 15m/s winds. \:\(

collision maybe? I dont know, have yet to see any ships except PT boats sink on tehir own and am finishing my 23 patrol...seen lots of 15ms wind days and nights - maybe bad luck or they hit an iceberg!

oh, and why should it be a bug?

I am sure that some ships sank in heavy seas in the 40's - so it might be a "feature." Although, if the AI were smart enough and new of the danger, they might reroute around the bad weather...

The problem of rough seas taking out and sinking ships has been discussed in several threads at SubSim.com during the last 60 days. I personally had not seen this until just last night. On a convoy attack to the west of Ireland in winter '39 in the worst seas, I made an unusual attack first on the lead destroyer escort. I normally do not target destroyer escorts. It isn't historically accurate that a U-boat would try to take out two or three destroyers from a convoy and then plunder. However in this case and because of sea conditions and position I thought it might be the only good shot I would get. The destroyer blew up and all following convoy targets responded by starting a zigzag evasion. It seems that the high seas in combination with the high bouyancy of small ships did them in and perhaps they ran into each other. When I surfaced later, I found six small merchants and coastal merchants lying dead on their sides, keel entirely visible. These were floating but "sunk" according to the game's algorithm, so they could not be torpedoed for renown credit. Bummer.

it's a BUG, wake up and smell the coffee.

Sheezzz, some people just don't get it!

Besides the fact that it was posted many times at Subsim.com as a bug by many people, I really doubt
the developers of this game want us to have no Convoy Targets in bad weather.

It wouldn't make sense to sell a game where you are SUPPOSED to sink ships, but the ships all sink on their own.

Why bother simulating 15m/s winds, in this game then, if it sinks a convoy before you can get into proper position. I'd imagine how many frustrated people there would be out there if this was an intended feature.

Thanks to this "FEATURE" I am no longer even bothering to stalk Convoy's in 15m/s winds, which is about 50% of the time

With more "FEATURES" like this I won't even need to fire torpedo's anymore.

I have seen ships sink in rouch seas, only small ones though. I did see a PT boat get damaged and catch fire from what seemed like ocean damage though.
