Got sent due west of Bergen to apparently do weather reports because nothing came by or near in two days of patroling the zone. I decided to run up the denmark strait and see if I could find anything.(note: I later realized that we werent at war with russia yet. Another example of of how stupidity lends to bad luck :p )

After wasting my fuel going through the straits, I head south to Ireland where I found a whole lot of nothing. With 25% fuel remaining in crappy weather I headed back. I had to cut south of the Okneys, but ran across a small merchant and sunk him (300 vis). Later on I ran across a destroyer who never noticed I fire 4 torps at him.(25knots in bad weather..mail run?) I then got numerous contact reports but didnt have enough fuel to chase them down. \:\(

The next patrol was a lot closer but the weather was bad again. I chased down a sound contact and found a coastal merchant. He spotted me and engaged. I ended up missing with 3 torps, across the bow, bouncing off the hull, ran deep. Then getting a Destroyer spotted at close range behind me.

I dived shallow and decided to sit of the bottom. I reverse engines to slow and then at 1~2 knots I hit bottom After repairs and waiting a while. I set the depth up a few meters and didnt move. After full reverse and more damage I had to blow tanks to get unstuck.

As soon as I surfaced, what greeted my eyes from the con was the Destroyer ~300m away moving across my six. (note to self, shut down engines and check six before blowing tanks especially when a destroyers about)

The tin-can apparently never saw me in the weather and I eventally ran down the merchant(I'm not vendictive, really) and sank him after a long chase. I headed north and passed another destroyer on the surface. I later sunk a C3 with 4 torps(I didnt want to stick around and that last torp would bite me in the end).

Heading due east I found a C2 and got into a perfect ambush. The 1st torp hit him square and slowed him to 2 knots. I hit him again with my last stern tube amidships and then left him. I watched him externally for an 1:30 hr and the only thing that happened was a destroyer showed up..

Patrol 7 coming up \:D

You won`t believe this one.

Cruising at P depth and stalking a contact in light fog. Tube 1 ready and open. Out of no where a destroyer is comming at me head on. I loose an eel at him and crash dive. The torp bounces off his bow and he clips the port side of my con. My U-boat takes damage and rocks back and forth like a pendulum. I quickly surface to P-depth again, jab the periscope to 180, and the guy just keeps on going? I surfaced and watched him on the horizon as he quickly disappeared. He never did consider hunting me down.

This Sim keeps entertaining me in the weirdest ways. Good stuff this SHIII.

Cheers

Took a stern shot at a C3. target was in a left turn and the torp bounced off the stern to port and exploded under the bow. Talk about luck.

Talking about luck... In the midst of a convoy, I just had a torpedo targeted at a C2 do an interesting trick. Deflected from the curvature of the hull to stern, bounced off the rudder, and headed back at the C2s 180... And straight into the stern of a small merchant some ways off, where it detonated.

Even better :

I shot a torp at a C2, it passed underneath only to continue under a T2 which promptly blew up!
