Thought enemy planes were sposed to have red icon?
I've been in a Bf-109 and been shot down by a blue icon Spitfire.
Also, how do you know where to fly to to support ground troops?

I haven't flown german craft, but whenever I fight stukes the icon is red. Perhaps that's the color for Axis and Allied are blue? Dunno about that one.

Re: supporting ground troops... there are general radio stations that all people listen to I think, regardless of location, those are the ones you want to monitor. There is a thread on ww2online forums about that. Also as a general rule of thumb, if you're axis then fly west

Had a neat dogfight in a Spitfire,3 of us on a Bf-109.He showed up red, too, like he's sposed to.
Then became a Wehrmacht grunt, assaulting Namur.Followed a tank across a bridge, then it retreated.Got to fire my weapon at some muzzle flashes.
Then I was rushing up to help another tank, and was whacked.
Got to be more careful I guess.
This thing is big-time fun.

REB, did that fight with 3 Spits vs. the 109E end in the 109E auguring in during a split-S?

If so, that 109E was me.

The virtual pilot seems to get fatigued the more G's he pulls and at the end, my pilot was so fatigued, he couldn't pull out of a dive into the ground.

Actually,I wasnt there for the end of that fight, either.Too many g's,too low,too slow, you know how it goes.
Will take a while to learn the new game.Sure is fun,and it was a fun fight too.

Another thing is,I got used to the no-cockpit view in EAW and CFS 2,and they dont give you that in this game,so you are back to the realistic problems like having your planes nose covering the target in a turn, and trying to judge just how much to lead and figure where your bullets are going.I couldn't be sure I was hitting you any or not.
Overall, the planes are better than I thought they'd be.

REB, leading a plane to hit with a deflection shot is difficult but it CAN be learned.

Having that big honking snout of your aeroplane covering a huge portion of the sky sure makes aiming your guns more interesting, doesn't it?

I dont have the game yet guys, so I'm not sure, but don't the numpad keys give you zoomed in portions of your plane? And one of them gives zoomed in on the gunsight?

Yes it zooms in,but does not take away the nose.In EAW and CFS 2,you can fly a gunsight around, with an unobstructed view.
Also there is NO check 6 unobstructed view,so you have to juke the plane around to see behind you.
The heavy framing of the 109 canopy obscures the view too.
Realistic,tho.

Reb!

I believe from a distance the icons all look a faded blue, only as you get closer to the target do the colors start to get stronger
I can tell if its an enemy till he's pretty close to me

I also have to wait a bit for the icon to resolve into a definite color, and they look blue to me too when just fading in. I usually ignore the color at first and concentrate on the number of characters as they fade in. If four, I pay real close attention, because I fly Axis and SPIT is the keyword to get excited about.

Here's another thing with the A/C icons. Plane type text (enemy A/C are type only) will be at the bottom of the circle where as friendly IDs are at the top of the circle. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seemed that way.
