Nice to see you sticking your nose in here again!
Well, promises, promises. Everything along this line seems to peter out. I'd been really hopefull about WwW's,BOP til it folded and it looks like Oleg can't handle producing a WWI FM, we'll never get the code to RB3D so let's hope something at least FUN comes along though we all know the depth of RB3D can never be reproduced.

He's mentioned before that his engine can handle flight models back to 1910 or so. He just mentions that references are lacking and he's a numbers type of guy so... \:D

LOL @ Skid, I haven't quite let RB go yet. It has reappeared on my HDD somehow and even though it is undoubtably dated it is still a good source of WWI fun for me. However WWI on the IL2 engine and net code, that would be superb. I sincerely hope that it makes it to the shelves.

Forget IL2 WWI. Get OFF (for CFS3). I downloaded and installed it yesterday. It is outstanding! I'm sorry but it's way better than RB3D. The boys at OBD did themselves proud--planes, scenery, menu options. Everything. This free mod is of retail quality.

Oh BOY! I stopped at CFS2 and IL2. Of course anything for IL2 will only be for Forgotten Battles, of course. I'd have to buy CFS3 and IL2 FB. It never ends!

I reckon Oleg can stick it now that OFF is out!
He could have delivered the goods, but he chose not too!
I would not pay money for it!...The FB series scenery is so bland compared to OFF

I guess to me it all depends on how the MP works out for both games. OFF looks good and I am hearing the SP is great, but I played the MP and there is a lot of work to do to make it equal to RB3D. The IL-2 WWI game artwork looks great, and it will be Track IR compatible, and I am assuming will have very good MP. I guess time will tell in all of this.

Regards,

Gibson

Hey Skid I just re-read your post, the IL2 based sim is not an IL2 add-on, nor is it by Oleg Maddox. It's an independent project by a Dev team using the IL2 source code. All of the dev updates look stunning. Definitely one to watch

OFF is very stunning visually. But sadly it still uses the CFS engine, which has enormous limitations in FM and campaign mode.

Eye candy is fantastic. but to my mind actually flying and fighting well....it still doesn't come close to RB3D patched with WFP or FCJ.
