Great addition however;

When I crash into the ground I don't explode, I just bounce off

Maybe I should adjust something in options?

You are seeing what I call the "kryptonite fuselage" effect. The fuelage is hard coded to remain intact. It also prevents MG rounds from penetrating the fuselage from directly behind and behind and below. Hence MG fire which would almost certainly disable or kill the aircrew do not penetrate the "kryptonite." I regard it is the most significant barrier to realism imposed by the code.

Agreed, if what you are seeing is the intact fuselage, but if the whole plane just keeps on flying, perhaps realism settings are set to make it impossible to sustain damage.

Given that there is no oil being sprayed in your face, no real bullets flying past your head and no friendly mid air collisions to keep nervously looking over your shoulder to avoid, I guess the fuse is a compromise... as we know it actually was extremely difficult to take down a plane let alone 2 or 3 planes in a mission so the overall feel especially with Kess' FCJ is spot on for most people.

The main thing in FCJ is the "will I make it back alive?" thought that runs through your head throughout the mission ;\)

Saying that I haven't played RB for a few months and tonight tried out WFP with the new "Moving Front" patch by Mark Hutchinson and took down 3 Rumpler CIV's all from roughly behind without damage to myself so it must be OK ;\)

Don't forget Manfred von Richthofen's 900 rounds to take down Major Lanoe Hawker as he tried to escape, and only by hitting him in the head did he get him...and MvR aint a slouch at flying and shooting ;\) .

"Collisions" are set to OFF in your REALISM settings. Not only do you not take damage from air collisions, you also do not take damage from ground collisions and most damage you already have is repaired when you hit. A very serious fire will not repair.
Even with "Collisions" ON, if you land and stop your engine, the same "healing" effect will occur.
