Ok guys, thanks for all your advice. I finally got RB3D and installed it, i did a clean install, then installed the DGVoodoo 1.31 and HASP and also HASP SP2, all according to the setup instructions on Povlovskis site. Now the question i have is that it all flies great but looks a lot worse than the screenshots i have seen online with the mods installed, have i done something wrong??Is there any way to tell if i am definately using the HASP version or the standard version? Here are some shots so you can see what i mean. Some are in 640x480 then i upped it to 1024x768.

Here are the 1024x768 pics with autumn terrain. All pics were taken in the fly now option. Is this what it looks like with HASP installed?
Also is there a manual somewhere for this? I cant figure out how to start my engine in the campaign, lol That is a good start isnt it?

Start Engine is the "TAB" key.
RB3D Manual: under "Documents": http://www.wings-of-valor.net/
You have definately had great success at installing the dgVoodoo wrapper, HASP and SP2.
However, you are still running the stock terrain/effects/objects.
You should have installed the OTE/PL combo terrain Patch before HASP.
If you want to make sure it's right, uninstall SP2, then HASP (they have self-uninstallers,possibly shortcuts in your root folder or PROGRAM files on your HD but definately in the main RB3D folder)- install the OTE/PL then re-install HASP then SP2.
You could take a chance on just installing the OTE/PL Patch now, you might get just not quite all the features.
You must have missed this thread:

The patch order for HASP and terrain links are included there.
You are required to run in AUTHENTIC flight model mode or you will be stuck with the stock FM's.
Also, AIRCRAFT TEXTURES in PREFERENCES/GRAPHICS OPTIONS must be set to "CUSTOM".

In my experience, it makes no difference when you add terrain if they are .vol files that are going into the ~Data\3Dpatch folder.

Reg, you have successfully installed HASP. Just get the tarrain as Skidmark says, and it will look right. And you might want to turn on anti-aliasing for DirectX with your video card, at least 2x.

S!

Yea it looks like HA cockpits but stock terrain. How did that happen? I thought HASP came with terrain.

Excellent, thanks for that guys, i now have it running in its full glory - must admit i am impressed with what all you modders out there have done, outstanding work. I am playing around with it now and have already learned it is damned hard to shoot anything down in this sim, lol - much easier in PF and other sims

Reggie...

Welcome to Hell. ;\)

HASP does not come with scenery, as if I put it into one patch, it would be huge. I was thinking about the guys still on dial-up, so they had to be split.

So go to the Scenery page on the HA site and pull down the OTE/PL combo pack. It's very good. I used Rabu's scenery tiles which in my opinion look the best for HASP, and then added in Kess's objects and effects from the old PL grafix upgrade. Both together give you some stunning scenery and great effects.

There are other scenery flies you can use as well, but some do not have effects (fire, smoke, flak bursts) included with them.

Thanks for enjoying Hell's Angels. I'm glad to see you are have trouble with killing your enemies. That is what I call success. LOL! ;\)

Brgds!

Reggie, Campaign Manager has a "bullet mass adjuster" slider that increases the effectiveness of your weapons. The FCJ Control Panel may have something similar. A little adjustment makes a significant difference.

It is very hard indeed to bring down enemies, rear fuselages in particular seem to soak up hits, many say fire from slightly off 6 o'clock and aim for crew and engine but it's easier said than done when you're flying a plane that has so little power and very little rudder response, and the target is refusing to fly in a nice straight line. I tend to remember the hundreds of rounds MvR commonly reports using for each of hils kills and think, this is hugely frustrating, but entirely realistic.
