Got an announcement;
Red Baron 3D will be getting public exposure once again that it probably hasnt enjoyed since its initial release. The Promised Land has been contacted by several gaming magazines about possible articles regarding PL and its pending "Full Canvas Jacket" superpatch release.
The first magazine article has just been completed and approved for publication by "Computer Games Magazine" and is a feature, front of the magazine, multipage article about PL, the FCJ patch, the longevity of RB and its community, and as the artcles writer explained it "an independent doing a major updating of an older game". The article will include 6 to 8 screenshots of the FCJ patch along with before and after shots of RB, along with discussing various aspects about the FCJ creation and other RB related topics (theres also a sidebar on the new glidos drivers). Its slated to be published in an issue towards the end of April and will hit the magazine racks at that time.
The magazine is one of the major computer gamer magazines that has been around for quite awhile and can be found in most retail outlets that carry computer gaming related merchandise.
Anyways, thats the story, the editor gave the go ahead to let everyone know, i hadnt said much anything and have just been about my business with the patch until positive confirmation of the articles pending release.
kinda exciting stuff.

That's excellent news, Kess! I know this has been a labour of love for you! Had I the talent and the know-how, I'd have probably attempted the same thing. I'm just happy that I can send you some money to profit from your hard work.

If you like the article, once it's out, give the Editor in Chief a note. It's quite a move to give something like this - a patch by an amateur designer for an older game - two full pages. There are a lot - most - brand new game releases that only get a page (or less.) Oh - and after seeing all the screens Kess sent me, I'm REALLY drooling waiting for his patch. Just for completeness, there are references to the Hell's Angels and WFP in the article with links (I didn't interview them, and they aren't the focus of the article, but they are mentioned as other Superpatch.) Also, this forum here at SimHQ is referenced as a good place for newbies to come with questions - so be kind to them when they show up. Jeff

I'd buy a subscription to a mag that mostly covered mods and indie stuff. Rowan's BoB and BDG, SDOE and FSWWI, RB3D and FCJ, HA, WFP, ROTJ, OTE, PL, WW2 Fighters, IL2 utilities, Combat Mission, Torque engine games like BL coming from http://www.invasionworks.com makers of DoD. Guess they wouldn't make enough off advertisers though.
