I always wondered how much I was losing because of not having a Glide card. Can I watch trees somehow without it? What else am I missing besides the transparent cockpit?

BTW and off topic: Where do I get the no-sun patch (because WOV doesn't have it)

Trees, invisible cockpit and clouds are the main things you'll miss. The picture is grainier and both scenery and effects like smoke and flame are less realistic too.
There is an invisible cockpit patch but the best bet is to find a used Voodoo card or go for the GlideOS Glide Wrapper if you have enough PC power.

My dad's 1.2 Ghz 512 ram GeForce2 rig wasn't powerful enough to get decent frame rates. The GeForce3 and newer cards reportedly do well if the PC is fast but I haven't read any definitive posts about minimum requirements to get it to work.

Clouds? Hows it? I think I was seeing clouds!

You see clouds in the distance in DD but with Glide you can fly into them.
There is a 'nocockpit' patch. If you can't find it,I'll E it to ya.
You can turn Sun GLARE off in PREFERENCES/GRAPHIC OPTIONS.
My DD RB3D looks great but it aint Glide. I can't run Glide long enough to finish a mission but I do it sometimes just to experience the look ;(
