Thanks for the heads up. I've downloaded it and think it is SUPER!! May never play my IL2 again if these add-ons keep appearing.

A nice feature is the terrain that comes with the install. I could never use any of the other add-on terrains as I would get those stange psychedlic tiles, even with my texture memory limited to 2mb. The terrains that come with the 1918 Air WAr install don't seem to cause that problem so far, and besides being a nice change of pace from the stock scenery, are really well done.

The FM/DMs and new planes including flyable two seaters are really fun also.

Impossible to think one person could put together this much work in two years let alone one lifetime! Simply amazing.

Just found this board. Be sure to read some of the messages on my board for some info and screenshots prior to download. The patch is single player and designed for use with the Campaign Manager. No other add ons required other than my 2 patch files as everthing you need is in their. Anyway, enjoy it. Be sure to check out some of my aircraft profiles at my site too.

Yo Wingstrut-
Nice to see your post here. Please advise if your earlier patch (2.2) or similar is available also. (or if incorporated into another patch/patches.)
Really enjoyed your artistry on a prior Win95 install, but had to deal with ctd's. now running Win98se. Still on a low end machine till next month. S...

the old wstrut 2.2 is not posted. I let that one fade away after the web host closed. Maybe someday I will update that patch. Certainly if new aircraft slot #s can be added to the sim.

You will find 1918 AW to be much more challenging and better everything all rolled up into one patch. Go my forum through my website and you will find some nice screenshots and other info.

Hmmm- Something weny awry. The program wanted to load into CM10. I'm running CMII.
I let it load but could not get CM to load it.Also it did not show up in patches. Made its own CM 10 catagory. I'm sure it must be something I'm doing wrong as its been quite a while since I've worked with CM. Temporarily uninstalled it. Suggestions ??

Scratch,

I also noticed the default CM10 on installation, so I hit the little browser button (couldn't read the label on it) and did the stair step directory switching deal (like you do when you want to install a game to a different directory). I insured it was going to be installed to my CM11 directory before hitting the next button.

Yes, configure the install to the correct file path and you will be fine. Either CM version will work with the patch.

Scratch, After you close all Windows Programs:
1) Write down the default path the Wizard wants to use as a reference
2) Hit the browse button
3) Find the correct path to your game's folder, which will be the same path as what you wrote down except you'll have a folder named CM11 where the default path shows CM10.
4) once you have select the path, hit next to continue the installation.
5) Reboot
6) Run CM11 and add patch

have fun..it's a great patch...S!

Au revoir en l'air...S!

Got It! Wingstrut is certainly an artist.
Joined the U.S. Aero Squadron and really enjoyed what seems to be a better flight model for the Spad.(or I'm getting to be a better pilot, lol) In any case I got an Alb after I unloaded most of my amo at him. Think Wingstrut threw a little armor plate into that baby. Got the res up to max & still getting 24- 29 fps out of this old box. Big surprise.
Help! The two highest settings for AI are "veteran & "elite" (i think) Which is the setting to go for with this patch? I read somewhere that "veteran" was preferable as it gave more complex AI. This is what I've been flying with the slider set to 110%.
Any help is surely appreciated. S...

It takes longer and more ammo to bag an opponent because Wingstrut fixed to the DM to reflect something more akin to the history of actual engagements. Currently, the average kill per sortie in a poll at his forum reads 1-2 kills per sortie.

Regarding enemy AI. His recommended setting is setting difficulty at 110% enemy setting in the game difficulty settings. This is the setting he developed his patch, and provides an AI with above average gunnery skills. He also set the DM at the default bullet mass that can be adjusted using the CM preference scale. Any adjustments above the default setting result in quicker kills as the increased bullet mass produces more damage.

One benefit of the increased DM is also an encreased engagement time which results in increased fun imo. This is something on the order of what has been accomplished in IL2.

Regarding the setting in Fly Now, I usually set Elite in order to see what the best will do when I encounter them in a campaign.

BTW: I recommend posting your questions at the Link Hentzau provided as Wingstrut is always at his forum for answers.

Lol!!!
Got switched to a Spad VII with one mg. Got on the six of an Aviatic and unloaded all of my amo into his fuse. The AI quietly landed in a field.
Well the skins are almost too pretty to shoot at. I still feel like the armor is a bit too dense and the pilots are wearing their sunday flak jackets. Increased bullet mass to 1000. Might go back to old Wingstrut.
(Thanks Hentzau)
