If OFP2 (or any other "tactical" FPS) would incorporate a dynamic campaign, I would buy it in a heartbeat. I think.

I would like to buy an addon pak since the AI in OFP is 2nd to none. A downloadable pak with more realistic weapons such as JO's Stinger and better damage modeling would be great.

Looks like the OFP team is planning some jungle warfare scenerios.

Vietnam? WTF.There's a zillion Vietnam games out right now why make another one. And whats with SE asia, Central Europe, Africa, 1970's mashup. Sounds like their trying to cram to much junk into the game.

Look at the recent survey posted by jedimaster, and specifically, question six, asking about the preferred locations for OFP2. This alone says that the locale is not written in stone. Also, the possible scenario locations given are a scenario similar to the current war on terror in the ME/Iraq, a hypothetical war in Africa, a showdown with China over Taiwan, and a Balkans scenario. Note that the link posted by silverstang is nearly two years old, so much has apparently changed.

Look here as well http://www.flashpoint2.com/ to see that even a year ago, when the official OFP2 site was changed, that a switch in venue was in the offing. Note that this site is now also out of date, but it is more recent and official than silverstang's link, and coupled with jedimaster's post about the poll he received, seems to indicate that at any rate, Vietnam is probably not on the cards.

True. The last survey from Codemasters is a lot more recent than that interview with the Bohemia guys, so the Vietnam theme is a thing of the past.

This bit of the interview is funny:
We have been working hard on Xbox Flashpoint so
we haven't been able to focus all our resources on Flashpoint 2

It should really translate as:
We couldn't fit such a resource hog on the Xbox, so we wasted 2 years trying, pretended it never happened, and did nothing for OFP2

\:\) Well thats a big releif. I didn't look at the date of that interview. (shame on you Stang ;\) )

Although I don't know if it's any better that they don't have a clue about style of game they want to make after two years. \:\(

The "open war" single-player game definitely sounds like what my choice would be.
Set it in WW2 with all nations playable, and it'd be my ideal game/sim of all time \:\)
(I'm trying to create a game like this myself, but without much success).

I think that it's a great shame that the single-player aspects of almost all games nowadays
are linear and story-driven, and dynamic, replayable gameplay always seems to be reserved for
multiplayer. For every Morrowind, there are two dozen MMORPG clones.

Which idea is stupid.

If they have never been any East West conflicts, perhaps it is time they did one in a game.

These kinds of games require a suspension of disbelief.
US West vs US East means both sides have the same equipment and are fighting on US soil. It also means the backstory is a joke. I'll believe invading aliens before I buy New York vs California.

Now make a game taking place in say the 1890's that's a US Civil War 2, North vs South, fine. Make it an RTS and people might like it.

massive multiplayer war like a modern version of WWIIonline would be great, though very difficult because of the complex weapons and systems.

Yes if the weapons systems were modeled realistically it would be too complex for the average gamer, but OFP isn't quite Steel Beasts when it comes to realism. ;\)

I was checking out Call of duty's united offensive demo. The modeling of the foxholes is the best I have seen, even the mud looks real. A OPF2 Fulda gap campaign with multiplayer would be a challenge and I like Haddocks China scenerio but set in Korea.

I would vote for a non-conventional modern war scenario -> A Multinational Force (such as NATO) supporting peacekeeping missions like for example in Afeganistan.

Or for example, if the developers choose a more "conventional" war scenario then I would vote for an "invasion of one country by another one" scenario. A possible scenario for this could be Ethiopia invading Eritrea and the player would be part of a Multinational Force sent to help Eritrea expeling the opposing Ethiopian forces (such scenario was modeled before in some extension with Ghost Recon: Desert Siege).
I think this would be a good scenario since it would be probably a more "realistic" war scenario (in the present and near future, that is) than for example an open war with China.
Also Ethiopia has some good and modern weaponry which could make such campaign a good challenge!
