FDF Mod 1.0 Released!

- The first total conversion modification for OFP: Resistance
- Reworked OFP config with more realistic recoils and weapon specs.
- New sounds for all OFP weapon systems, weather and environment.
- Finnish Defence Forces modelled in meticulous detail.
- Dozens of new weapons and improvements for OFP weapons.
- Man-portable modular weapon systems such as HMGs and mortars.
- 9 single-player missions and 12 multiplayer missions (a/d & coop).
- New user interface for menus and mission editing
- Debug console for mission editing purposes
- 16 new radio voice profiles in Finnish, totalling 3000+ radio voices.
- Soundtrack feat. Finnish rock band 'Airut' and few classical tracks.
- Custom Island "FDF: Karjala", Everon island with OFP: Resistance trees, houses, textures, etc.
- Integrated spectating script (No need for insertion of spect. scripts)
- Numerous old OFP bugs fixed, eg. correct-sized BMPs added, forced machinegun lights fixed, gl-grenades taking too much space fixed, medics able to carry LAW etc.
- None of the original OFP files are replaced or altered

Even if you dont care about finnish defence forces, this mod alters everything in you OFP making it like a new, more realistic game!

Very interesting.

I did a few quick tests to see what kind of changes were made.

Firing single shot, recoil is definitely more pronounced. However, I noticed that the G-36 when fired on full auto is still rock solid stable.

I noticed a decrease in framerates and periodic stuttering. I don't know if this new mod added more AI scripts (tying up my processor) or if it is the new sound mod doing that to me. I know my 1.2GHz P3 and Radeon 8500 aren't the fastest, but they play all the other OFP/Resistance stuff I have very well.

I haven't had a chance to play any multiplayer yet, but aside from the slowdown/stuttering, I really like what I see.

That stuttering/slowdown seems strange, people have generally said it even works faster than normal OFP. Have you tried to move some of your addons from OFP\Addons elsewhere temporarily as it might have something to do with excessive amount of addons?

I have Athlon Tbird 1.2 and Radeon 7.200 and have not experienced any stuttering.

G36 being rock solid might be a bug, it will be tested and fixed for next version.

If they're using Resistance models and textures in Everon, that could give you lower fps than in Everon pre-mod.

I did some more playing/testing last night.
I continued to have lower fps and some stuttering when running FDF. I do not have these problems running straight Resistance. I only have a few addons: the only ones I am using are the ones required to run Somalia 93, Siberian Fox, Base Trinity, and the final version of the Vietnam mod.

Cracking mod Gerhard. The new weapons are amazing and i like the trip-wires,tripod mounted removable weapons etc in the editor \:\)

Although i seem to have found a bug in the Christmas SP mission? We are at the mast killed everyone (it's completed in the orders) but the leader just wont move down to intercept the convoy he calls out the position D4 -something 6 but wont move???

Glad that you like it \:\) I gotta check out that Christmas mission bug, it will be fixed and put up as separate download later on. Of couse, patch fixing as many problems on the units etc. as well as introducing new stuff is worked upon.

I played quite a bit tonight. I used FRAPs. My frame rates weren't really dropping at all. My problem is merely with the stutter, which sometimes goes away and sometimes is very pronounced. Removing all the addons did not seem to affect the problem much. It seems like it stutters more when lots of sounds are happening at the same time. I toyed with hardware acceleration for sound, but didn't see much difference. Most of the time I don't even notice a stutter now...

this mod is GREAT!!!!!!!

I concur, GREAT mod! Played a few MP missions last night. The only thing I would like to see added is a "GROUP" respawn when you die, and then go into Spectator mode if all remaining soldiers are killed. It seems like a whole new game, but the different colored interface and new units/weapons. I will be playing this Mod on a regular basis. \:\)

is this mod gonna be compatable with 1.91 resi or only withit self. alkso why does this mod llok for a bis or bas addon. cant remember which. or is it my addons that are screwed?

It sounds like something is messed up with your addons, it doesn't ask me for a BAS addon. I have Resistance 1.91 installed, no problems.

I just wanted to point out that our squad tested this mod with other OFP missions and everything ran perfect. You can play the old missions with the new interface, sounds, and such. We ran the FDF mod in conjunction with the MFCTI mod and everything worked as it should. I really like how the FDF mod looks and feels, and it seems so much smoother and faster. The new interface screens are much more readable(and smaller) than the default screens.

It's like a whole new game to me with these mods. Now I can't wait to try out the BAS Desert mod when it comes out.

Time to start making some custom islands with VISITOR. Where will I find the time....
