OK I need some help. While installing the game my anti-virus software pops up with a message saying that SHIII has a virus. I hit the option to delte it but I think it screws up the rest of installing because when I try to play or even patch the game the message "This application has failed to start because SH3.DLL was not found. Should I take this back and get another copy. Oh I have the U.S. version. Thanks for any help.

No...you should disable your anti virus software. Most companies, for years now, have asked that you switch everything off running in the background...particulalry anti virus software and more recently firewalls, and then install.

Turn your antivirus back on after installation, but turn it off before installation. What AV software have you got?

I think right click on it (it should be on the taskbar where the clock is, and select the appropriate option...it will ask you if you're sure...say yes...sfter installation, goto start->programs-> McAfee (something like that) and start it again

Unless you know exactly what an installer is going to do with your net connection, you should never disable your firewall........ever!

It will still say that because, presumably you haven't reinstalled.

You said you tried to install and AV told you there was a virus so you chose to delete the file...so, unless you've disabled AV and reinstalled the game, then that file will be missing...you did delete it.

Looks like i am taking it back. The virus seems to be on the disk. I turned the anti virus off reininstalled and still that message came up. When i did reinstalled with the anti viurs off the patch still did not work nor the game. So i turned it back on and did a virus scan and it picked it up on the d drive. So i freaded out thinking oh crap there goes my computer. So I unstalled (for the upteen time) and did the virus scan again ant it was not there. So i will get another copy and see how that goes.

It's not impossible, I'm sure...but it's HIGHLY unlikely the virus is on the DVD...seriously, I'd say, if at all, the virus is on your PC. Take it back by all means and try it...I'd be surprised if it resolved your problem...but hey...let me know if it does or not. k?
