Reading all the reports I could find, I'm really quite excited about this sim.

I got interested in sub sims by MPS's Silent Service, then SS2 subsequently. Followed by SSI's Silent Hunter, then Aces of the Deep (tough trying to survive the war - I never did in all the careers I started).

So I'm eagerly awaiting the release of this sim in my part of the world!

You and me both, Zero. I have been looking forward to it for months, and the threads here have really got me stoked.

It promises to be a lot better than the U-boat game I played and loved about 10 years ago on my Mac.

Just saw that Amazon is shipping my copy today! Woot!

Started with Silent Service I on the Amstrad 6128.

I've been playing SH3 for the past 3 days and still think it's an absolutely fantastic u-boat sim. IS it perfect? No. There ARE a couple of things I'd like the devs to fix/add.

But it is already the most immersive, detailed subsim I've ever played. The three patrols I've done so far with my Type VIIB have been fantastic experiences with night surface attacks against coastal shipping, hour-long depth charge attacks, beautiful sunrises and storms so vividly rendered I almost got seasick myself. Destroyers that charge out from the fog at night with spotlights on and careful submerged attacks during the day. Lumbering freighters slowly sinking, their bulkheads collapsing with a terrifying sound and nimble torpedo boats harassing me while sneaking through the channel.

Unbelievable...

It will be released here in Singapore on Wed 23 Mar (it is now Mon 21). The next 2 days will be agonizingly slow... \:D

Dasher has summed it up perfectly. Even the patrols where you get no contacts are still worth sailing. Managing the crew takes up enough of your time if you let it. Watching the sun rise from the bridge is one of many great moments in this sim.

Zero Niner,

Are there any computer game outfits in Singapore who will deliver to Malaysia ?

My location has been locked out by most game vendors in USA. Too much credit card fraud was what they told me.

And I cannot get a damn thing in this country that is not pirated software. Bloody sad state of affairs.

I have been trying to work something out with Chips & Bits, EBGames, Gamesstop.com, etc. All of them either flat-out say 'No' or did not reply my e-mails. C&B was surprising since I'm a returning customer, but since they change their policy on Malaysia, everything went t*ts up.

Mine arrives tomorrow - waited to see what everyone though of it before committing cash, but I needn't have worried judging by the almost universally good feedback
