This is sort of a continuation of the "other" topic The Sea of Sails "Dynamic Campaign" Sea Dogs. Maybe Dynamic Campaign is not the term for this one because it feels and plays out differently than anything else I`ve seen. Past events do carry forward and have a direct effect on future events in a series of unlimited ways. That`s dynamic enough for me. I have F4, Mig Alley, and soon BoB for those very reasons. Now Sea Dogs falls into this catagory as well. If you are a Naval Buff this Sea Dogs will grab you and not let go. Resist cheating, look for tips and you`ll have the blast of your lifetime with this one. If you love visuals then SD delivers glamorously in this department. If you love tactical battles then SD will provide. The RPG games never attracted me, but in SD this element blends in perfectly IMHO. Sea Dogs is a blast and even my wife is totally into it. She says it`s better than watching a movie on TV....heehheh. There is already talk of mods, add-ons, and a follow-up. With an open end world of Sea Dogs then this would be Grand.......the Saga continues. I`ll try to follow up with some screen shots at a later date.
The Saga.......I`m leaving Isle d`Orange in my newly purchased "Brig" with a volunteer "galleon" as escort. I`m full to the brim with linen and sugar and this time I`m heading south east to High Rock where the market is good this fall and the women are fast. I have also upgraded my cannons from 12 to 16 pounders with a shipment of Mahogany. I feel more confident with this new upgrade. I not only get added punch but greater range. A good thing if you run into a enemy corvette or equivelent. One must protect his goods and crew. Speaking of crew, I also hired a First Mate and 50 extra crew, thanks to the profitable summer up north.
I set course for high rock and couldn`t help but notice when I got back from making tea (left the game running) there were to french ships tailing me.....wierd. (The AI in this game is spooky sometimes). I scope them out and one is a "pink" and the other an "armoured pinnace". Probably headed for Belfor. Your best to keep your trips short with such meager little ships. I never cared for the french much, but at least I can provide them with a little freebie. Seems like they are leeching on for the ride. The sun is setting behind me as the island shrinks away. I`m in a good mood so I`ll let the frenchman tail in my wake until sundown. All I have to do is drop my extra jib sail, cream the water, and easily pull away from the two stragglers.........
