I see the last of the Canadian Oberons was retired. Kinda sad in one way, but on the other it will be nice to see the new Upholders gracing our coasts !

Hey, I've been in one of them, the Onandaga, back in '91 or '92. They were in rediculous shape. Other than the fairly capable Mk 48's onboard, they were ancient. I remember after a major refit in the early 90's, all the recently replaced hull valves had to removed again, as they were installed BACKWARDS!!!!

Our fine submariners have deserved something like the Upholders for a LONG time.

I almost wish I could move back to Halifax, as I loved getting tours on the boats. I have had tours on the Coral Sea, the Anzio, a Russian Slava and a brand-new Udaloy, two Halifax-class frigates and the Onandaga. I really miss it. Not much of anything here in Toronto.
