Cooking this right now.

Instapot Cowboy beans

I soak the dry beans for 24 hours before cooking. Trying avoid "venting".

We have one, haven't used it much. This looks good though, might have to try it!

Had a Power Cooker when they first came out and used it about 4 to 5 times before tiring of cleaning it. Then gave it away.

Chef, the Instant Pot is pretty awesome.
I have done Ribs, Pot Roast, Pulled pork, (whole chicken was a disaster), hot wings, creme brulee, key lime pie, mashed taters, etc

Whole chicken was a failure because I put a frozen bird in the pot. Didn't do it right, tossed in trash.

I should think 'venting' would be unavoidable eating all those beans!

Is this the same as a slow cooker? Big thick ceramic pot that sits in a cook base? If so we've had one for near on twenty years. Throw a spag bog, stew or roast on in the morning and eight hours later you have lovely fall apart meat.

No its an electric pressure cooker that controls temperature perfectly and maintains temperature. Main benefit is cooking things that you would cook for 8 hours in that slow cooker can be replicated in the pressure cooker in about 45 minutes and get it just as tender.

I love mine. I also have the June Smart Oven generation 2. Between the instantpot and the June cooking on weeknights is a lot easier.

Try an air fryer. They're easy to use and versatile as heck. Great for reheating fries (once) or doing frozen foods like...well, all kinds of fries for one...shrimp, chicken, fish. Basically if it can BE fried and isn't prone to coming apart like egg rolls or Mozarella sticks you can put it in an air fryer. Cut the time recommended for an oven or toaster oven in half. I got one in November and it's not only expanded my "easy to cook" options, I've also cut way back on the microwave.

SALUTE TO ALL!

My wife uses an air fryer and I highly recommend it. The food really does come out great!

I've tried to convince my wife to get an air fryer but she keeps asking where are we going to store it. I didn't think they were that big.

Since we're expanding the topic what about a souvee? We have one of those and they make excellent meats but you have to brown the meat (at least I prefer to) once it hits the desire temperature. A souvee is basically cooking in a precisely control temperature water bath with the meat contained in a plastic bag. The temps never go over what the water is so there is no overcooking. We prefer to season then vacuum seal the meats.

Yup, that's Facebook in a nutshell. I don't blame ANYONE who has no interest in using FB for precisely examples like that one!

Chef, I looked into the Sous Vide cooking, and it is all the rage on my BBQ site

Sous - Vide - Que

Wife and I discussed it (they are not cheap for the good units, figure $90-$200 on Amazon) and it has a lot of things in the Win column, but the hassle of the long cook kinda throws me off.

One thing is pitched is that you can have the 'perfect' steak. I understand the concept, but I can also do that with my grill, and much faster. So at the moment, I don't see myself getting one.

Sous Vide is great but does take a lot of time investment for that. For example, a steak kike rib eye is going to be like 40 minutes in the water bath. Then you are going to take it oit and still brown it on stove or grill or something. Then you get the perfect temp inside and perfect sear outsidr. All in all its going to end up taking like 1 hoir for a steak. I rather just spend 10 minutes to grill it most of the time.

Those multifunctional ovens like the June Oven is great for me. It's a variety of things including air fryer (convection oven) functionality available to you.
