The weakest point of BOS, IMO, is wingman AI. They ignore my calls to form up, to return to base etc. They will generally attack when I tell them to, but not necessarily who/what I tell them to. Not that it matters because they can't hit anything. In my current campaign I have ~200 aerial victories, no one in my squadron (past or present, IE living or dead) has/had more than 5-10.
It seems that if enemy AI can score kills on my AI wingmen, and they do quite often, my AI wingmen should be able to score kills on AI enemy. They do, just rarely.
“Government has three primary functions. It should provide for military defense of the nation. It should enforce contracts between individuals. It should protect citizens from crimes against themselves or their property. When government-- in pursuit of good intentions tries to rearrange the economy, legislate morality, or help special interests, the cost comes in inefficiency, lack of motivation, and loss of freedom. Government should be a referee, not an active player.” - Milton Friedman
