Watching a footie game tonight from Melbourne (they won with a great comeback over Freemantle). The Cricket Ground can hold ~100,000 fans but would say less than 15,000 in the stands and they were all bundled up like it was below freezing with winter coats, toques/hats and gloves. The temperature was around 11C/52F.

Is it that Melbourne is 16th out of 18 teams in the league or the temperature was a little chilly or a combo of both for the lack of fans?

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

What was the humidity that accompanied that 52F?

Have these people ever seen a Packers game? Or Browns or Bengals? Or Penn State or Boston College? Ten degrees Farenheit with a wind chill well below zero and the only things some of the fans are wearing are jeans and body paint. Maybe a kiddie knit hat with ear flaps.

Um...it’s Australia. It’s essentially a giant version of Florida so the people there (besides the aborigines) won’t have much tolerance for cold weather.

I think the alcohol works as an anti-freeze for those fans. That's real (American) football. Played outside , no matter the weather.

No doubt about that. But my guess is they have the same anti-freeze flowing through their bloodstreams.

Correct. When it comes to being cold we are absolute pussies. In Darwin once it gets under about 24c the coats and uggies come out. Under 20 and it's cries of apocalypse.

In truth it does get cold. We have approx. 60 frostie nights per annum, plus snow in July. Right now it's only 2C... bloody cold at 1200 meters.

Snow in July ? Now you are just telling tall tales. If you get snow in July you must have frigid December’s.

Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

I was stationed in Alaska from '79 to '82. My parents came up to visit late June to early July of '81. Picked them up at Anchorage International and was driving them to where they would be staying. My mother looked at the snow coming down to about the 3,000 to 4,000 foot level on the hills just outside of town and said, "Is that left over from the winter?" I answered, honestly, "Nope. That fell last night."

She told me to take her back to the airport.

It's mind-boggling to think that all of Alaska has less people than the county I live in.

For us it is summer OG.

In Australia, the seasons are defined by grouping the calendar months in the following way:
Spring - the three transition months September, October and November.
Summer - the three hottest months December, January and February.
Autumn - the transition months March, April and May.
Winter - the three coldest months June, July and August.

That’s just all wrong. It’s like you are purposely listing it all backwards.
