There were so many good mods for it too. Desert Combat was one I played a lot.

I lost interest with BF4,never owned BF One and will never purchase BF V. It's just a genre I grew out of. 1942 and BF2 were my heyday for MP gaming.

I really enjoyed the SP campaign in BF4 actually... but did very little on the multi player side of things.
And yes, I'm the same. Not interested in BF One, and will never buy BF V.

Cut my teeth on Bf1942 and Bf2 was the most modded and most fun.

So two weeks after release and EA already cut down 50% on consoles and 33% on pc. on pc it was 50% for almost a day before they must have seen some spike in sales and decided to make a bigger profit.
guess the sales tanked

I”m going to venture a guess that their “premiere” skyrocketed for the month.

Can anyone tell me what the names of the more 'open' maps are on BF5 (i.e the equivalent of Caspian Border on BF4). I've just bought the game but don't want to start off in a built-up area in something the size of a cardboard box whilst people do jumping circle strafes around me on full auto whilst offering to rape my granny yep

I got it at Christmas for 30 bucks, have only played online multiplayer a couple of times so far because all the servers are full most of the time. The campaign is fun, I'm playing the Tank mission now. It's pretty typical Battlefield, which I have played every single one since BF'42 (Desert Combat), Vietnam etc..It's not to bad on sale, I'll never pay $60 for a game ever again been burned a few times with that. One mode I'm looking for is Combined Arms which sounds like a squad co-op against AI enemy but we will have to wait and see if that is actually what it will be.

Windows 10 Pro
Gigabyte 970A DS3P FX
AMD FX6300 Vishera 3.5 Ghz
ASUS STRIX GeForce GTX 970 Overclocked 4 GB DDR5
16Gb Patriot Viper 3 RAM DDR3 1866Mhz
Onikuma Gaming Headset (has annoying blue lights I don't use)

You should select quick match, you'll get matched pretty quickly (under 2 mins). Granted, you won't be able to select your map, but it's generally hopeless waiting for a server to empty, in order for you to join. You'd have to memorize the rotation and select the map prior to the one you want to play, in order to get a full round in, on the one you want.

I would suggest you play Domination/TDM at the beginning to get your weapon progression unlocks quicker. Conquest/Grand Operations is nice, but you're running around a lot and not getting a high number of kills. Of course, YMMV.

Got BF V for Christmas from the wife smile Have enjoyed it more than I expected I would after the absolute balls up EA made with marketing the game in the lead up to release (their handling should be a case study in how NOT to launch a product!).

Just finished playing the class that gets the most hate (MEDIC) and absolutely enjoyed the experience. Making use of smoke to cover revives is critical to not getting killed every 3 seconds AND you can still pick people off at distance with the Sten Gun, you just gotta be steady! smile All in all Im enjoying the game as it is. I think the game has a pretty rock solid core and if its developed as the EA has said it would be then eventually we are going to end up with a pretty solid product...lets just hope that eventually comes sooner rather than later though.

What I would LOVE to see in the future the Sherman tank and the M1 Garand making an appearance in the game (otherwise the weapons in it now are pretty much BF1 reskins!

Both don't fit for typical Battlefield players, one have an small magazine and the other are too "weak". biggrin
