The count is now 7 for me.
Just flew up to meet shan2 in Atlanta. As excellent a fellow in person as you would think from reading his posts.

Well then, we shall have to arrange a meeting.

Just two... But, such great people it's like meeting the coolest stranger you could ever imagine and, they are everything they claimed to be. Try that on a social media website! Almost made it to three members but we ended up butting heads over trivial crap now that I look back. Many here I'd love to meet and have a few with...maybe even a few too many with. More than a few who are no longer with us and, whom I am truly sad I never met.

Look for me on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or Tic Toc...or anywhere you may frequent, besides SimHq, on the Global Scam Net. Aka, the internet. I am not there, never have been or ever will be, but the fruitless search may be more gratifying then the "content" you might otherwise be exposed to.

Very cool thread. Let's have a meet-n-greet in Pensacola or Dayton (my preference...F-22/F-117), or at any of the other major aviation museums!
Meeting a SimHQ poster in person only happened to me once around 2004/05 (I think), his name also being Mark in Jax., FL (infrequent poster). He was heavy into FreeFalcon and was willing to part with his Jane's USAF which was tough to find at the time. Wife and I drove out to his house on the other side of town to get it. He wouldn't take any money for it, but it was lunchtime and he agreed to let us treat him to BBQ near his home. Had great conversation about flight sims, wife being a quiet trooper just letting us jabber on. He disappeared off the board soon afterwards.
Thanks again for the Jane's USAF, Mark in Jax. I still have the orange CD you gave me with all the FreeFalcon stuff plus everything supporting SP3.
EDIT: Cool, I found him in the User List...

I'm very glad to hear you had a good time with shan2 OG!!
I've only met one SimHQ member in person and actually he's a former member, not current. You even went to school with him, yes?

Only one that I know for sure that is a member here Stewie http://SimHQ.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/users/219/stewie Great guy, stayed with him and his family on my way to the 2003 flight sim show, gave me a much needed break from looking after my terminally ill mother who passed away a few days after I got back home. I'll be forever grateful for his hospitality when it was a very trying time of my life. Now if you had said Frugal's Forums then I have met quite a few of them

Quite a few of fellow 'Squadron' members who happened to be members here also in the grand days when IL2 was at it's peak. I remember a traumatic time at a Flight Sim Exhibition risking a punch in the chops asking various tonsorially challenged attendees: 'are you Slaphead?' whom I had arranged to exchange some peripherals with there. Also met Oleg himself!

Met three fine guys... LukeFF, Ian Boys, and Bones. Some really nice memories there. I've not met Bones in person yet but he seems to be a great guy. I fly DCS with him on a weekly basis.

I've never met anyone from here, but I have from other games I've played such as Mechwarrior, over the years. When I first started dating my wife over a decade and a half ago, she freaked out when she saw I was talking to folks on the internet. "Who are those weirdos?" She'd ask, disturbed. "Regular dudes," I'd reply. She always thought they'd be psychopathic murderers or something.
Nah. Ordinary dudes trying to relax and have fun. Hell, I even met a guy online who happened to have been in my high school two years behind me, and I never knew him, and we finally got together at a one of the many LAN parties I threw in the late 90s.

I fly DCS with him on a weekly basis. <Maniacal laughter> I've got PM fooled! Just a little while longer and I 'll have him in my evil clutches, and his little dog Toto too! Haha, yes, so I have not met PM yet but yes we have been flying weekly in the last few months, along with aforementioned former member and they are great to fly with. I wish I thought to look them up when I was in Miami back in 2013 and 2015. For those whom I have met, I've met RSColonel_131st before, and he is a great guy. It was fun drinking with you and freezing through the Viennese Christkindlmarket! We gotta get together again sometime...and yes I *DO* owe you an email! I've also met Jayhawk, who I haven't seen much of around here lately but he was also great company. I've met UndertheRadar and had some good times with him at the NAS Oceana airshow, and that is also when I met Skatezilla. Gronk used to be on back in the day...I am still in touch with him. Met him once when he was in town back in 2004. Creeper is another one I've met who isn't on anymore. As a matter of fact, Creeper became my best man at my wedding. So how's that for friendships forged from SimHQ? Creeper's best man speech was funny at our wedding reception. "Some of you may be wondering how we met, but I met Bones on a website. Not THAT kind of website!" He was in town in March for a quick visit at our new home and to meet my son for the first time. Then we went to see Captain Marvel. There was also 2 other people that I physically I met here way back in 2003, but it's been so long and I lost touch so I don't even remember their names anymore. SimHQ is that great, folks. v6, boNes

Whatever happened to "Cat". If i recall she lived in Florida and was a regular here for some years. I believe she was part of the exodus that occurred when ownership of the website switched hands a couple years ago. On a side note, I think Lil'Jugs was the last female member to post here and I haven't seen a post from her now for several months.

Don't know or have met any SimHQ members, but may have been near some without knowing it when I went to a flight sim meeting in Blackpool years ago. An interesting day, met Oleg there. I don't know how he was persuaded to go to Blackpool but there he was.

I used to work with Cat extensively as we merged my Bones JF-18 serial fiction with her Sasha LOMAC serial fiction and were penning episodes and seasons together here on SimHQ
We got all the way up the the cliffhanger Series Finale....and we never finished.
Some of you may remember that series....last episode was in 2004 or 2005.
Maybe someday we will finish it. We knew how the series was to end and we only had one episode left. But the images I had for it are long gone and I don't know where Cat is right now.

Met Frugal many years ago in London, went to an awesome airshow, took some great photos (real photos, not digital)
Late last year just missed an opportunity to meet Mr Grant, but my scheduling was poor. Hoping to return to Dallas in July 2020, who knows who I might meet? (and Mr Grant, thanks for recommending WhatABurger!)
Kindest regards,
AJ

Hmmm, five or six, but all but one of them has left SimHQ for one reason or another.
Back a zillion years ago a bunch of us Red Baron 3D guys used to meet up once a year at Rinebeck, NY to see the WWI planes fly.
And OG, of course, because who the hell hasn't met him? There's a special punch he carries for one's Man Card, after all.
The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events. More dumb stuff at http://www.darts-page.comFrom Laser: "The forum is the place where combat (real time) flight simulator fans come to play turn based strategy combat."

Gone flying and shooting with EAF331 MadDog on a couple of occasions. Bumped into him at the airport the other day, too. We need to go flying and shooting again soon!
Also met Troll, he’s a pilot for another airline here in Norway.
Quite a few I would like to meet, though most are in the US, so that complicates things a bit.
In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

It can be a bit rough. My mates and I used to go to Blackpool in our teens ti get drunk and pick up birds. Had the odd bar fight there too.... happy daze. I would think there would be lots of sea gulls there.
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

It can be a bit rough. My mates and I used to go to Blackpool in our teens ti get drunk and pick up birds. Had the odd bar fight there too.... happy daze. I would think there would be lots of sea gulls there. Blackpool, like most British seaside resorts went into decline in the late 1960s with the nascence of cheap package holidays to Spain & The Balearics with it's guaranteed sun and cheap booze. There was an attempted rebirth as the venue for hen & stag parties but this backfired due to the unruly drunken behaviour of the revellers discouraging families who went there longer term for their annual holidays. It maintained some popularity due to the annual 'Blackpool Illuminations', though once again visitors were discouraged by the massive traffic jams that ensued. I worked there on a Store Refurbishment a number of years ago. During the daylight it looked very rundown and tired, and as darkness descended the streets became awash with vomit, discarded kebabs and supine drunks. Along with seminar-attending middle-aged sales representatives trying to make most of their few days of freedom from humdrum lives and marital ties desperately trying to 'pick up birds'. It is said that Hitler loved Blackpool and ordered it not to be targeted as he had plans to make his English 'Wolfschanze' there following a successful invasion. It probably wasn't 'blitzed' as it had no strategic value unlike nearby Liverpool.

Hitler loved Blackpool? That would be very far down on my list of expected sentences to read for today :/
"They might look the same, but they don't taste the same."
