I'm surprised how often skunks are mistaken for cats... how can you miss that tail?

Also surprised how often I see neighborhood cats (including my own) hanging out with skunks. I wonder what they talk about?

Day 2 and the smell has gotten better some but it's definitely still there. We are shampooing everything fabric in the house - furniture, carpets, beds, etc.

We have a tall closet with wire shelving in the kitchen where we keep our dishes - the dishes AND the wire shelving have the smell too!

Ugh. This sucks.

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

Wow, JC, that is been an ordeal!
Hopefully you will just have it as a bad memory in next day or so.
Sorry, Brother!!

*Bets that JC will *never* let that skunked dog in the house again. HA!

Gives way and suddenly it’s day again
The sun is in the east

Although, not as bad as skunk, the smell from a fox spray is pretty nasty too. I never knew that, until I came across were one had just marked his territory.

Around 25 years ago I worked in a pet store. We had all steel animal traps for rent. There was a mandatory deposit - if you trap a skunk you now own the trap.

I've never encountered any close up skunk smell, but I was amazed just how drastic that measure was for an object entirely made of metal. Definitely gave me a higher respect for the power of a skunk...

I would say the worst is over. We've gotten most of the smell out, now we just have to wait for rugs to dry and start putting things back together.

The cleaning solution recommended by our vet included peroxide, baking soda, and dish soap. It got rid of most of the smell, but not all of it. It did have one other interesting side effect though....

hahaha

Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

The dog will never willingly get near a skunk again, for sure...

Some still go after porcupines even after getting a muzzle full of quills.

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.
