Hi all!

As someone with a decent amount of experience in flightsims but new to WOFF, what's a fun, relatively forgiving plane to start learning with?

Welcome aboard Pwner44, always great to see a new pilot in camp. For the Brits the Sopwith Pup is a lovely plane; for the Central Powers the Albs are quite nice; and for the French I'd say the Nieuport 17. There are others of course, but these are all fairly forgiving and good to get a feel for things.

Enjoy the virtual WOFF skies, and watch your six!

Cheers!

Lou

Welcome to WOFF, Pwner44! On the other side all the Albatros scouts are fun to fly. I think the trick early on in your career is to pick a time period and a craft that gives you an advantage over whatever EA craft are likely to be around, e.g. Albatros in spring of '17. You may need to give yourself a high rank in career mode to make sure you get the better craft in the squadron allocated to you.

Have a blast!

Thanks for your replies! You both seem to agree on the Albatroses and they seem like fun machines to fly, so I think I'll try out a career with one and see how I do.

Here's to lasting a few sorties!

The SE5a, it will give you a feeling of confidence and you can really thrash it around the sky without worrying about losing wings.

Having only been flying WOFF for a couple of weeks, I agree the Alb's are good to fly. But I think my favorite, especially as you can start at the end of May 1916 in it, meaning you're up against Eindeckers for the first few months and have the battle of the Somme to fly in, is the Sopwith Strutter.

Add to all that the fact you can mix up your missions with some bombing runs as well. It's a winner for me winner

So, we take off in ten minutes, we're in the air for twenty minutes, which means we should be dead by twenty five to ten.

I started my campaign in early 1915 and I'm still flying the B.E.2b in late March 1915. Talk about a stable platform to fly.

So I've started a campaign with a DIII in Bloody April, and I'm really enjoying it so far! First mission was an intercept on a French squadron flying right at our airfield. A bit hectic being thrown right into the action, but I managed to hold my own against a Neiuport (Also nearly emptied my guns at him, to no effect other than scaring him off) and lived to see my home field again. The Alb feels really fluid and intuitive to fly for the most part, appreciate the recommendation from so many of you!
