Just fooling around...

18 are painted, I would do 24 if I could find them all. I've got some great sources that give tail numbers and] nose art but not the aircraft letter, nose art and letter but no tail number and finally just nose art. The final product will be available as standard 256 color (8-bit) and 512 (24-bit full color) for 1.28 and 1.6 versions. The plane is from Rotton50's latest plane set with standard Iron Works (Eisenwerk) meddling.

These look excellent, Mike. Very authentic and weather-worn.

Looking good , Mike.

Did the bomb groups ever mix and match D & J models?

Hi Ray, yes the later marks were flown along with the older D model. I do not have a great deal of data on the mixing, but I know it happened. The Ds became the colorful 'formation ships' used by the 8th AAF groups to assemble the growing bomber formations from 1943 onward.

The problem I have with this mark is that almost all of the data I have is from late '42 and early '43. The blue and white 'wings' were added to the ball and star later in '43 and by then the D was going out of front line service. The H model (first with nose turret) was accepted in August 1943 and began to replace the D in the 8th AAF. The J model came a bit later. If and when you do a H or J send it to me.

Ray, I will send you the 1.6 version for evaluation because I do not know of the unit will work in correctly. I am still unable to run 1.6. My "new" machine failed and I am still trying to get it fixed or replaced by the manufacturer. I am sure it will work in1.28.

Mike, your new machine ain't the only thing failing. jawdrop biggrin

I built you a J about 6 - 8 months ago.

Ribob pointed out that the turret I added wasn't quite right but it turned out there were two versions of that turret and I picked the one that was less likely to cause R/S issues.

Any of that ring a bell?

Anyhow, it's in the latest 1.6 inventory package

Thanks Ray. I'll grab a copy and finish the D units. I had the 330th finished but noticed issues in the fuselage and had to fix them and repaint a bit. Since these panels are different on each skin (72 in all) it takes a bit.
