Just noticed I missed my ten year anniversary in December 2018. Hard to believe that much time has passed since I first joined.
Hopefully in that time one or more of those 26000 posts of mine helped you or brought a little levity into your day. cool

With my part time posting and participation rate on SimHQ it should take me nearly that many years to get to a thousand posts.

It's crazy to think it was 10 years ago I bought First Eagles gold, OFF and RoF and all within the space of a month and I have been mostly interested in WW1 simmming ever since. Proves time flies when your having fun.

Congrats wheels. You don't post nearly as much as you used to but it's great to still see you around.

Out of curiosity, I looked at the top 10 posters and noticed that 5 of them are long gone from SimHQ. Things certainly change over time.

Hard to believe I'm like the #15 all-time poster on this forum. Many, many posts about announcing/coordinating Arma events (among other games, too) over the years.

And congrats on the 10 years, wheels!

Congrats Wheels. cheers

Hey, if word and/or pic count were considered, I bet I'd give PM a run. smile

Lately I've cut back on both. Also on high decibels and booze.

I can't believe I stumbled in here in my mid-30's. Holy crap! My freaking 30's! When was that? I want a redo! biggrin

Man, truly youth is wasted on the 'young'. Still lots of time remaining though (hopefully) and I plan to make the most of it (a little mid-life anxiety).

I think that's pretty much a universal feeling that all of us go through especially when you realize that the website you've been on for years has already had several members pass away.

Congratulations, Wheels.

I just checked. I'll hit ten years in September and have fewer than 1,000 posts. I don't say much, but when I do no one listens. nope

And, guess I'm the opposite.

37 when I joined. My hair is a very different color now. Retired.
Looked at my Twitter, joined in 2011 and have over 22,600 tweets.
Things have changed over the years. SimHQ use to be so much more active.

I can honestly say that I don't really know what a tweet is. smile I assume it's not much different than a post like this one on a message board. I also have zero experience on Instagram and Facebook (although I know what they are).

I never thought I'd be on SimHQ this long as I assumed by now it would have modernized (more so than the big update a years back). I like clean and simple word (and pic) communication (think Usenet), everything else to me is just an irritating distraction (such as Likes and Reputation Pts.). When SimHQ does eventually modernize (and I assume one day they'll have to, like everything else) I'll take my exit.

I have adapted to one modern advancement however, I now technically text on my flip phone since wife added to my phone some canned responses ("Yes", "No", "Ok",...). So now I can at least respond to her texts when she can't call or if the call won't go through (common in the rurals)...

"I'm here." <- Mill parking lot.
"Ok"

"Going to be another hour or so."
"Ok"

"On my way home."
"Ok"

A tweet is basically a text, done via the Twitter app. Restricted to 280 characters (use to be 140 until recently).
You follow accounts of interest (sports, gaming, politics, whatever).
It's quite simple, the only social media app I have use for. For me it is for keeping up to the moment in news, especially sports. Things always break on Twitter, as it is right up to the second.

That actually sounds pretty cool. I can see it's not like a message board where you can be wordy (my above post contains 835 characters, 1,028 characters including spaces). I could see myself using Twitter if I had any of those interests.

Twitter is good if you are a celebrity or some other kind of famous person who wants to keep in constant touch with your fans. If you’re just a an verage Joe Blow then why bother? How many people would actually be interested in reading about what you bought at the grocery store or how many dumps you took that day?

I kind of like the black dots in IL-2, and if they don't change it, that's fine with me. Sometimes a simulator also has to be a game. I'll still buy Forgotten Battles.

How my post count is a small reflection of the ones things I've inspired to grow.

The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events.

More dumb stuff at http://www.darts-page.com

"The forum is the place where combat (real time) flight simulator fans come to play turn based strategy combat."

You clearly have no idea what Twitter is about.
People talk about common interests, not dinners and dumps. Some might, but you don't have to follow them.
