hehe .... yea that sure is a common one. I would also often see signs that began with "Texas sized....." For example, "Texas sized savings!", "Texas sized dinner!", "Texas sized deals!", etc. etc.

I've not been to Chicago yet but are there lots of signs saying "The best Polish sausage in town"? No, but there sure are alot of signs that claim to have "The Original" Maxwell Street Dog....and they're not even on Maxwell Street. v6, boNes

When I first looked at the thread title, I thought you are talking about signs of intelligence. But then I saw you are talking about Texas.... Now hey there! Dell and Texas Instruments are both based in Texas and of course NASA mission command is in Houston. But many of those people that work there aren't original Texans.
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

I don't buy the 'original' mambo-jambo. Just a way for the locals to get off on feeling superior. On the occasions I go to the North End when somebody mentions they are to the effect of "original" I always feel like "hey I don't tell you MY problems".
What kind of car is that? What does it matter? When I drive it, I'm Steve McQueen

Don't forget about AMD, Bell Helicopter, and what used to be Consolidated Aircraft/General Dynamics (home of the B-36 and F-16). Dr. Pepper is also a Texas invention.
