I figure this article might pique some interest since we have quite a few retired folks here or folks who will be retiring soon: Top 3 destination States for retirees: New Mexico Florida Arizona Top 3 exodus States for retirees: New Jersey Maine Connecticut https://www.cnbc.com/2019/04/17/ret...3-states-and-fleeing-these-3-states.htmlEven before reading this article I came to two conclusions: Retirees want to live somewhere with a low cost of living and where the overall climate is warm and sunny.

New Jersey is not exactly a major city. It's their property taxes that's the number one reason to leave.

Either that article wandered from it's original course or the author thinks NM, FL, and AZ are wilderness areas.
The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events. More dumb stuff at http://www.darts-page.comFrom Laser: "The forum is the place where combat (real time) flight simulator fans come to play turn based strategy combat."

Either that article wandered from it's original course or the author thinks NM, FL, and AZ are wilderness areas. To some extent they are wilderness. There are huge areas of NM and AZ where you'll barely find any people or development. Even Florida has large low population/low urbanized areas up in the Panhandle region.

The old bones start to ache with cold and even more so if it is humid and cold. Then there is the snow and ice > walking is harder and falls usually result in broken bones.
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

They recently moved back because they couldn't take the extreme heat anymore. I'll take the dry desert heat any day over the steam bath humid heat that I get in Miami!

My ex in-laws are both retired, have a decent size driveway yet with them having 2 daughters, neither husband will go over and clear the driveway for them. I used to when I was married to his daughter, I even brought my youngest over to help because one of the last snowfalls we got was very wet and heavy. It's only a matter of time before they move south because all the grand kids are getting older HS/College age so they rarely see them anymore.

If I could get my girlfriend to move I'd be out of the communist state of New York tomorrow.

I am sorry for those folks that used to be your in-laws. I hope they at least kick in money to have the drive cleared. If they do nothing, then those women did not marry men. Whatever they married they are not men. Before I had my stroke I'd drive my RWD high hp manual transmission car to my parents at 4am, park in a snowbank, and shovel them out of blizzards before I went to work. Now I wait until the plows come out. But I still go. It makes me sick to read of "men" who will not do for their elders. Unless they are missing limbs or have paralysis or something, they are soft overgrown children. Even if they bench 450 and run the Ironman.
What kind of car is that? What does it matter? When I drive it, I'm Steve McQueen

What kills me is she's asked me to do it before, I told her she has a new husband to do that. Never mind our 17 year old son who she baby's so freaking bad.

I move every day. From the bedroom to the living room, to the computer room (AKA my "flying" room) and back. In the summer I move outside to the pool or to the shed for my V-twins. The one with four wheels is for mowing the grass and the one with two is for fun.
Yep, I'm moving all the time.
SALUTE TO ALL!

New Mexico would need to have tall trees and areas of lush plant growth where we could go for walks under the shade of these trees and the vines, etc . That is how it currently is in our neighborhood and i don't think we could replace that with cactus

I have friends that are talking very seriously about retiring down in Belize. They love it there. He is a dentist and his wife owns some kind of renewable energy design company. I guess if you have money, they would love to see you down there. https://internationalliving.com/countries/belize/retire/I would just be concerned about political instability in the area.
