Just letting folks know that I'm up and out of bed in the St Privat hospital near Beziers in the South of France. Last Wednesday they removed a 5 centimetre cancer from the surface of my right kidney.

wink Jel

Ok, good to hear.

It's encouraging that they didn't take the whole kidney.

Are you going to show us the scar?

You're a hard man to keep down. Keep on keepin' on.

Now, when are you going to give us EAW 1.70?

Jeez Jel; I didn’t know you had a serious medical issue going on. Cancer is just a scourge on us.

My prayers and best wishes for you.

Hopefully that is the end of it.

Thanks to everyone for their good wishes. Things went well, they removed the tumor without damaging the kidney. With luck I may be going home tomorrow wink

Jel, thanks for your continued efforts here despite your health issue. Luv ya for it, but take care of yourself first.

We are going to need you to help untangle EAW when they release Win 11, 12, 13 ...

Things went so well that I am now back home again in Montagnac wink
The surgeons report was excellent, conditions were excellent and it was an easy job.
I am amazed by the French health system. It has not cost me a cent smile

This was a fortuitous sequence of events.

At my age I have half yearly blood tests for my general health. Late last year they noticed that a marker for the possibility of prostate cancer has increased in concentration over the last three tests, so they checked me out, and found that I had prostate cancer, in its very early stages. They put me on a course of injections to reduce some hormone levels, and once these are down to the required level I will have some radio therapy to finish off the cancer. At this stage they anticipate 100% success.
They also needed to scan the prostate to position three gold makers to help the radiotherapy target the cancer, and during this scan they noticed a potential problem with my right kidney. Further investigation located the tumor which has now been successfully removed.

Life is really getting back to normal. We walked to the local market this morning, did the shopping, and had coffee with friends smile
