I get great performance in the air, but when I am around the airfield I am getting quite a poor framerate. I already reduced scenery density, forest density, and put the terrain settings lower, which helped a lot. I might need to go lower since it makes landing quite difficult. But once I am in the air even with lots of planes it runs good.

My specs are 8700k at 5ghz liquid cooled, 1080ti, 16 gigs of ddr4 at 3000mhz. All on a 1tb SSD. Personally I don't care that much for graphics and rather have an awesome immersive experience. Don't get me wrong graphics add to that immersion but they aren't everything.

Your setup is better than mine, I'll try to post my settings in a bit and see if anything looks useful to you...

Unless this is a windows 10 issue I just don't see how you can get low FPS with that system. Would you consider posting pics of:
1.Your Nvidia Control panel settings
2. If you use Nvidia Inspector, those settings
3. If you use Sweet Fx or Flight FX or any other post process graphics enhancer
4. Your WOTR in game workshop settings, both pages
5. Your TIR 3, 4 or 5 settings
6. Anything like EVGA Precision or a graphics card handler
7. Windows Task Manger processes that are running. Control-Alt-Delete the processes tab.
8. Any Antivirus that you are running
If you don't want to do it here, if you like you can zip it up and PM me and I will look at it.
I use an old AMD Phenom II 965 BE @ 3.4ghz with an EVGA GTX770 4GB and 16gbs of DDR3 2100 ram on several 1TB 7200rpm HDDs. I get 43fps or higher on the ground or in pattern flying around the Aerodromes and 59fps almost constantly running at 60hz on an Asus 2560x1440 monitor. I have the FPS limited to 60 as my refresh rate is 60hz so no need to go higher. With the system you have you should own WOTR at all times, unless it is a problem with WIN10 which I assume you use. I use Win 7 64bit. If you don't mind I would really like to have a look as it seems a lot of people are saying they are having just fair to poor performance in WOTR, which I have never had.
Anyway, I would be glad to look if you want Sir. yep

I have followed all the advice given by users and from the dev's official pages, and no matter what setting I've tried I still get stutters.
I've got a GTX 1060 with 6gb of ram.
My motherboard has 16gb of ram... still frustrating.

Other sims like RoF, BoS etc I can play maxed out on ultra settings without a hitch, but WoTR it's no dice...

Trooper, not that I am a know it all, but would you consider sending the above list and letting me look at it? I get stutters here and there, but I am going to be honest they are not very often. If I am over London I do get some more, but the higher altitude that I am the less I get. Anyway if I can look at it maybe I can help who knows, or maybe not, but it can't hurt to try. thumbsup

Hi JonRedcorn,

And what frame rates are you seeing?
Have you ever used MSI Afterburner to monitor GPU usage, CPU usage, Framerates?

I have used it, it's on my computer but I don't really ever have it running. My framerates are fine in the air, when you get down low to come in to land is when things start getting slow, I don't know the exact frame rates but I know they are barely playable around airfields and terrain. I can check it out.

Also the main menu I can not alt tab without it disappearing, when the simulation is running it's fine to alt tab, but the menu itself doesn't have a tab on my windows bar at the bottom, so if it minimizes I can't get it back up. I can't even take screen shots of it easily with windows since windows doesn't even see the menu as a game running.

The Z key will toggle on / off information in the upper left of your screen, it will include FPS.

I use GreenShot for taking screen shots of Windows Applications - it is free. https://getgreenshot.org/

I use Nvidia Profile Inspector to Limit FPS to 58 for CFS3.
I have Gsync monitors and I have Vsync enabled in FAST mode.

Please review my settings below - I do run a triple screen setup.

Here are my graphic settings

Here are my activity settings
[Linked Image]

Here are shots from after burner.
Near the ground < 1000 feet - is normally 30 - 40+ fps
This FPS rate does not cause me any difficulty when taking off or landing.

Caveat - Yes a field much closer to London could be affected more.
Take off - Tangmere - really shows the lower fps till above 1000 feet or so.
Top is GPU Utilization, Middle is FPS, Bottom is CPU utilization.
[Linked Image]

Landing - Tangmere - 12 planes in circuit
Top is GPU utilization, Middle is FPS, Bottom is CPU Utilization.

Z key will show your FPS up in the left corner (toggles on/off) Jon.

Also I get a FPS drop whilst taking off,not sure if it's the engine smoke or not pal, landing I don't seem to drop many FPS and in air I can get 75fps I use fast sync on my GTX 1070. I7 4790k and 32GB of DDR3. I use the free version of Advanced system care and use the turbo boost to free up ram,I also make sure that any background services I don't need are off..including closing any internet windows. But yep it could be something around the airfields? That might be leading to a FPS drop.

Edit..Stache posted just before me. Great info there Stache

Hey Rick - and what frame rates are you seeing takeoff and landing?

For kicks I did another test.
WOTR version 1.12 now.
Tangmere - Take off with flight - Split from flight - circle round up to 2000 feet, descend and do a touch and go.
Will let you make your own observations on the difference due to different resolutions.
One thing I will say is, after flying with triple screens, I could never go back to just a single screen.

The current settings I am using which I posted seem to work well enough. Just wish my JG 52 during the convoy battles would run into some more combat. Been like 4 missions of just staying in formation. Guess the RAF career probably has more constant action.

Yes, also patrol are not as likely to see combat as escort or attack missions. Having a short attention span as well as very limited time means I usually back out of non scramble missions on the British side...

Opentrack can have high CPU usage too apparently 1.2 reduces CPU usage - not sure what it is now, but check you have that.
In WOTR using Z key, labels and TAC all reduce fps.

Using time acceleration will likely make things much worse as it is actually running the sim at the multiple you choose , i.e. 12 X speed actually runs everything at 12X speed (rather than some warp system that moves you quickly but pauses all other calculations like AI etc in some sims).

Patrols will generally be quieter, if your squadron is fare from the main action you will likely not see much, skip time forward (days, week or two or more depending) to a more combat active time.

Here are my settings. Hope it works as I have never posted an image or attachment before.
My specs are in my signature. Getting 60's-90's fps in cockpit with no enemy aircraft (seen as high as 109 fps). Mid 40's-50's with lots of aircraft on screen. Will drop to low 40's-upper 30's with lots of smoke and fire and explosions skyward. Subtract 10 fps on average over London. I've seen it drop as low as 22 (but rare). I don't count the first 5-10 secs on start up (which can see very low fps) as things load into the video card memory (usually pan around when starting for a few seconds). Generally a pretty big range in fps with this title on my rig and the settings I play on (P.S. - I have vsync off just to see how high the frames will go). Get some stutter occasionally - it's bearable and the game is quite playable for me (though VERY noticeably more of a strain than WOFFUE - and I actually have trouble getting under 60fps in IL2 GBS) - it's the underlying CFS3 engine being pushed really hard I am sure.

If we are struggling now, can't think what it will be like when we do see 'Wings Over The Reich'...

Honestly, I love OBD and the work they have done and do (best AI and best single player dynamic campaigning around ) - but I kinda share your concern. Not sure it's ideal for the old engine with massive bomber formations over big cities. TBH I was kinda surprised they did a Battle of Britain scenario (though I do like it smile ). Was thinking something like Med would fit easier on the engine - but I don't know, I am not a programmer. The Battle of France should be a nice fit. But regardless, I know they work tirelessly and I am very appreciative of their work and what they bring to us and will certainly support any endeavor they do. smile

I certainly did not mean to imply that I am struggling in any fashion as I am not, so please do not include me in the "WE".

I am quite satisfied with the performance of WOTR.
