I was working on my mapping yesterday and was looking for some of the French towns on the North West Atlantic coast of France, I couldn't find them but did see some areas of 'rocky ground' for want of a better word where I thought they should be. Strange, I thought, but maybe these towns weren't marked in the CFS3 map and the rocky ground was just an artifact from way back.
However, I just revisited the Dunkerque area to check details there and noticed that where I had previously mapped a town it was now mostly rocky and barren. I do run a host of mods so disabled them and checked, but still the texture is rocky for this town. Of course I may have corrupted something in my modding that is not getting reset when I remove my mods, but I thought best to report it. And, the evidence of my original mapping of the area suggests it wasn't like this before so has been introduced at some point (I may be wrong as I might have made assumptions on my first mapping pass).
Actually I think WM improved scenery added more - I do know in Summer 1940 Dunkirk would not have been a pretty place having been blown to bits in the evacuation just prior.
There was another ground texture oddity that I noticed right after the last update, but wasn't sure if it was again my mods or if it had always been like that. It might be worth taking a look at if someone can.
It is where the cliffs of dover merge into the main ground texture, I see a shimmering effect, as if the two layers are fighting for which one is above the other. I don't recall seeing that before the last update, is it possioble that one of them 'moved up or down' so to speak? Or maybe it was always like that.
The screenshot attached was taken with all my mods off and the arrows point to the area I see the shimmering.
Ay up Chief FWIW pal..ive just flown 3 flights over the exact area over Dover, exact same coordinates that are shown in your pic.
Tried mods on and off and i personally couldnt see any shimmering from my end,i use scenery at 5 not sure it makes a difference mate, just thought id share my findings with you
