I retired when I turned 62 back in the Fall. It had always been my dream to move to Paris if only for a few months. So my wife and I did. Sitting overlooking the Seine and Nôtre Dame as I write this.

Yesterday my wife and I took the train to Bayeux and took a private tour of the beaches drop zones towns and the American cemetery. All very moving.

Worth the trip.

Two of my friends are flying their L-4 Grasshoppers from Norway to Normandy in June for the anniversary. Both planes were actually there in 1944. I want to go along so much it hurts! This will be the last anniversary with any numbers of veterans attending at all.

In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

I too would love to go.

So much history to see. Not only there but throughout Europe.

Not the same World War, but if you want to see what the western front looked like in WWI, go to Verdun area. Trees and grass grew up since the war; but you still can see some trenches and a million craters all the place around, with a bit of immagination, you can have a good overview at 1:1 scale of how this war was. I've been to Verdun in summer and in winter, winter is so much powerfull, a foggy day can makes you have strange feelings there.

If there is any such things as ghosts...they are surely at Verdun and the Somme.

We were staying near Omaha beach in a little farmhouse in Colleville sur Mer and overnight during a fog in those woods my wife was certain she could hear soldiers marching outside.
