You'll do know that there's a much improved B-25 model already in the 1.6 inventory that could wear this skin, right?

Ray I am just sticking with Modred's originals converted to 160 format as per his original request, and requests from other users too.
If Modred thinks we should try your files then I would be happy to include them smile

OK.

I keep bringing this up with the hope that the few remaining modders remember to look at my inventory before they start a project.

So far I haven't had much success but that doesn't mean I won't stop trying.

Hello Jel
There is a small mistake in your conversion. Please check, because the English flag must be on the outside on the tail rudders, not inside.
I am attaching a pics of the 1.28C version

It might just be me (windows 10 setup) - I get a prop transparency error on a single P-47 D skin when viewed from outside (the default player one - black skull on yellow engine cowling skin - the others are fine). Also have a prop issue with the left prop (when viewed from the front) on the Me210's (all). Right prop is fine, but left prop shows 3 black triangles spinning. Also come across unusual armament on P-47 D quick missions - torpedo on left wing, bomb on right. This is using the NewMapfeb5.exe and 25-Aces over Europe Theatre for 1.6.

No just you. I can confirm the same errors and I'm on Windows 7. I find it in the default ETO theatre, as well (they're 410's, I think, but for me, one appears to be normal).

It appears to have occurred in the 1.28c to 1.29 conversion, and it looks like a transparency file issue.
The 1.28c to 1.29 conversion just arranges files in folders without changing the names.
The conversion to 160 changes the names.
The files themselves are not modified.

Not my problem wink

I just re-installed Modred's 1.28c version, and when I ran it it defaulted to Glide, and everything seemed OK
1.28c Glide:

I switched to D3D:

I got the same difference in 160:

D3D:

The original skin is not rendering properly in d3d.

Well I don't experience any of those issues with Modred's original 1.28c release - all works well. No worries, I will just stick with that and use 1.6 for other things. smile

I was running Modred's 1.28c in two of the last screenies. In Win 10 the Mitchell is fine in Glide, but in d3d it has the problem you reported.
It is the same in the 160 conversion, good in Glide, bad in d3d.
Have you tried d3d?

No no, I was referring to the transparency and load-out issues I mentioned earlier. Idk about the Mitchell in d3d - haven't noticed. Will have to go and check that later today. smile

Loadout issues:

160 uses an expanded set of weapons so the "weapons.dat" and "weapons.str" files are different from those in 1.28c
Consequently a number of planes in the 160 version of AoE are showing a torpedo as part of the loadout.

What I have done is to go to Ray's ETO planes (made for 160) and copy some of the FM loadout files from folders of planes that are similar to those in Modred's set.
I am testing it at the moment, but things seem to be going well, and if there seem to be no problems I will release a patch.

wink

If you guys get bogged down with the conversion of either the flight models or the 3dz models let me know. I'd be happy to lend a hand.

The odd rendering issues of the Mitchell are not unique to that model. The problem goes back to video card differences back in the day. The glide vs d3d is also found in the Spitfire Mk I, the Mosquito, and a few others that elude me at the moment. One solution (the Typhoon too) was and is to paint the offending panels to correct the rendering issue. Example, switch/shift the rudders in the offending texture panel. If you look at my page at Talley-Ho under 8-bit skins you will see different versions of the Spit I for glide and d3d.

The solution is to go back and fix or create new 3dzs and fix the problems. Col. G. and Rotton50 both helped to fix the Typhoon if my memory is correct. Too bad we no longer have anyone who can, wants too, or will create new models to replace those that are flawed. The Bf109E is known to have issues too. One major issue with new models is that the usually require new skins. So, most likely not gonna happen.

soapbox rant-on-off

p.s. The current models in use pass one these issues. They do not create them.

There is a patch to give the correct loadouts here:

Modred Loadout Fix

Run it in your 160 folder and let it overwrite existing files
