What was the last game you uninstalled prematurely because you simply couldn't get into it?
After numerous attempts to play it and like it, I finally uninstalled "Hearts of Iron: IV" on Saturday because the game simply just didn't grab me. I found it dull and it required WAY too much micromanagement for my tastes.
Ah well, I got it on a Steam sale so it wasn't a huge loss.

Welcome to SimHQ PC.
For me it was Panzer Corps. Had fond memories of Panzer General 2, but I guess my preferences have shifted and I hated it. Uninstalled after 10 minutes. Didn't give it a fair shake, and it remains one of only two games I've ever refunded on Steam.

No Man's Sky. I kept it installed long enough for one of the big updates, and gave it another go, but I just couldn't get into it. Which is a shame because I was really hyped for it.
I just didn't feel I was exploring, and the stuff I was exploring was pretty samey. The planets & systems all seem to be fixed and not really what I would regard as even simplistically realistic. All the planets I was "exploring" seemed to be already littered with the same sorts of things, drones etc that made it feel that I was not the first person there.
Plus they made the game pretty much the same as every other game that involves exploring & discovery, exactly the same survival and crafting mechanics that seems to be game-pervading right now.

I have to change my answer. The other game I refunded on Steam was Endless Space. And it was more recent than Panzer Corps. So my answer is now Endless Space It's really rare that I buy a game that I won't like. But these two qualify.

I'd classify Endless Space 2 (note the 2, which I forgot earlier) as a 4X game. I think there's a good game in there. My problem was the tutorial is pretty bad and I didn't get on with it and decided to cut my losses then and there. Two-hour refund limit.
I have bought a hundred games over the years on Steam and these are the only two I sent back.

The closest I've come to uninstalling is Unity of Command. It's a turn-based strategy/tactical WW2 game. Units moving on hex map, trying to capture objectives and enemy supply lines.
It's a very well received game, and it plays well from what I've experienced. But for whatever reason, I've struggled to get into it, in all the several years I've owned it.
Still couldn't quite bring myself to uninstall, though. After about 1 year away from it, maybe I should try it again with a fresh perspective?

I've not uninstalled Witcher 3 yet, but the game has been on my hard drive for three or four years now and I'm not even halfway through the game. For some reason I can't get into it, try as I might, within a half hour of starting a session I often grow drowsy and fall asleep--literally. This is a physical reaction.
Which is bizarre.
The game has gorgeous graphics and the world is excellent and immersive, but for whatever reason I feel disconnected. I think my biggest issue is the wonkyness of how Geralt moves with respect to controller input. Combat is highly repetitive and pretty much the same sequence of button inputs works on all enemies. I think the Dark Souls series spoiled me, and no other sword based third person RPG has a chance of competing. Dark Souls is combat perfection, and your character's movement is flawless and responsive. Geralt feels like he's lugging around a sack of rocks. I want to be into Witcher 3, but I can't, and I absolutely adored the first game(though that took three starts to finally get into it, too).

Who uninstall games anymore ? 2 2tb HDD almost full of games, because i always reserver 200gb for updates and gameplay videos to upload later. But for the context and intention from your question, i was black flag.......everyone raved about it and i just seemed like a constricted consolitits game to me, enviroment very poor, all block, low textures....blah, plus the usual AC creed monkey around.....not for me. Got in a AC bundle in promotion with 4 others, so it was basically free, so whateves

Uninstalled Total War, Thrones of Britannia after watching the Uthred series on TV and getting into the mood of playing something in that area. First game I refunded on Steam. Simply couldn´t get into the game mechanics. Guess the Total War formula doesn´t work for me anymore?!

Sniper Elite 4, and refunded. Interesting pick. What was it about the game that failed to grab you?

I haven't played Sniper Elite 4 but I did have one of the earlier offerings. Now I don't know about you guys, but as I get older I find I can no longer tolerate the graphic kills in games like Sniper Elite. I also avoided knife kills in BF,I just found it too gruesome. I also won't kill police so I avoid those sorts of games. Anyway,I don't want to take this too off-topic,that's not the SimHQ way I'm having trouble with the OP's topic though. I think it might have been Miscreated. An open world survival game that initially was pretty cool to play but I just couldn't make it work for me. I like open world survival type games but this one has no SP so I found that if I met other players they would usually just shoot me in the face,no questions asked.

I've not yet uninstalled it yet but I've pretty much abandoned Elite Dangerous. Not enough time to get into it and learn the mechanics of advancing.

I just got ED recently and it's really a fantastic game BUT you really have to put a lot of time into it if you want to get the most out of it. It's simply not a "sit down and go out and play quickly" type of game. For that you'll be much better off with something like the classic X-Wing and Tie Fighter games from Lucasarts.

The last SimCity game, whichever one that was - not so much for the game (which wasn't very good), but for the dumb EA "service" required to run on top of it.
Other that that, I'm like Blade - with so much HD space I just ignore rather than uninstall.
The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events. More dumb stuff at http://www.darts-page.comFrom Laser: "The forum is the place where combat (real time) flight simulator fans come to play turn based strategy combat."

Far Cry New Dawn. Ugly GFX, cheesy characters. This is one of those games that I ONLY bought because of the cooperative multiplayer. In fact, it's also the only reason why I bought Far Cry 5. The coop is lots of fun but these games I find utterly boring to play in single player mode.

(Caveat - not really into multiplayer/online gaming, am a pure single/offline player)
Uninstalled in last year:
Borderlands 2 and Witcher 3: not sufficiently different to Fallout 4, which I still prefer and which mod DLC keeps alive (I guess I am an open world monogamist unless a game offers something hugely superior which is why I cracked and got a console for RDR2)
IL2 Great Battles and Cliffs of Dover: nice eye candy, aircraft variety and flight/weapon mechanics etc but AI still too dumb in both. Might go back to CoD if Team Fusion really can fix the AI in their version 5 release.
War Thunder: ground my way up to the top of the US and German tank trees, tried to find joy in online play, but lost the will to live along the way, gave away my hard earned key because tho I keep trying online shooters, I keep buying and then uninstalling them (Verdun, DayZ etc etc when will I learn)
Call of Duty WWII: semi-enjoyed the campaign but it was very short and had no replay value (much preferred Metal Gear Solid V campaign, prob because like Fallout 4 there is the option of multiple NPC 'companions' in battle, very replayable).

Interesting you mention Borderlands in your list because while I found the Borderlands games to be a LOT of fun in cooperative multiplayer, I found them to be utterly dull in single player.

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Witcher III: the Wild Hunt was the last game I uninstalled.
Got a new, mildly awesome PC. Installed W3. Corrupted install. Uninstalled.
Reinstalled it too!

Did you mean to say that Witcher 3 was too similar to Fallout 4, or is there a cut and paste error in there somewhere?

Besides Fallout 4 and Witcher 3 both being in the RPG genre, I really don't see any other similarities at all. Read this, go there, talk to her/him, kill this, find that, main quest, side quests ... repeat. One decent open world game is enough for me, gameplay too similar in all. And not having played Witchers 1/2 I gave up very early on Witcher 3 (mission 4 or 5?) when I got into a long drawn out conversation with some guy who interrupted my bath to interrogate me about stuff that I was supposed to know about from previous games, then it got bogged down in choosing my uniforms and teaching me how to bow to a king (I bow for no man!), so I abandoned the main quest, went wandering and did a few side quests, got bored and quit and never went back. Uninstalled. I don't uninstall because I need the disc space, I uninstall to reduce distraction. If there are 20 game icons of abandoned games on my desktop I find I quite often think 'maybe I should try that one again' but inevitably when I do, I reach the same conclusion as I did before and then think 'ah yes, that's why' and I've wasted a couple of hours. Simpler to just uninstall and move on. The world is full of other options!

That was a bit of confusion in your game options. The game developers should have named that option more clearly. You chose to simulate your Witcher II saves, in other words, you chose to 'feed' W3 with choices you made in W2 so that W3 will have continuity with "your" W2. The 'correct' people (based on your playthough of W2) would be dead or alive, etc. It influences who you meet and how they might react to you in W3. Kind of clever really, but a confusingly named option. I bumbled that one too first time but I figured what the heck, let's go with this. You could have (should have) skipped that whole interrogation thing. You would have had gone right to our little bowing lesson, said whatever you liked to the Emperor (and not bowed either), gotten the background you needed, talked to your girl, and split. You might want to revisit W3 at some time. It's a stunningly engaging story as well as a good game.
