With college football over, it's about the only thing I watch on tv now. And they have had some great shows on recently.
The series How the Universe Works is just amazing. Great graphics, explanations from astrophysicists in laymen s terms of what we now know. And what we now know just blows me away. From our little spot in the universe, with the help of the hubble and keplar telescopes, gravitational lensing, and maths, we know where we are in our galaxy and have a pretty good guess at what the rest looks like - and it's composition. Time-space, star nursery's, and exo-planets oh my.
Had a good show on last night about the lives of Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking, and their contributions to science. With Einstein changing our understanding of time and gravity with Relativity, and Hawking furthering those concepts to include black holes, the show was quick to point out that genius like that is rare.
Anyway it fascinates me. And knowing what I want to know now, wish I would have done better in my calculus class (some 40yrs ago).

We had the basic Comcast cable package for a long time. Then one day, out of the blue, that channel was no longer available with just the basic cable. I have always liked it, but I wanted to stand my ground and not upgrade. My 91 year old father lives with us, and he was quite upset. That is basically the only channel he watches. So I upgraded to the "preferred" package for a few bucks more. It is a good channel. We used to watch the History Channel, Nat Geo, Discovery , and Learning channel years ago. Now, I would rather watch an infomercial channel than any of those.

No #%&*$#, with my Time warner/Comcast package I have a channel called AHC (American Heroes Channel) which was a replacement for the Military channel that they took away. Now, it plays nothing but shows about Hitler.....

American Heroes Channel started out half way decent. Now they show a program called "I Almost Got Away With it" quite often. It basically glorifies the stories of two bit street criminals and drug dealers . American Heroes ?, I don't think so.
The only stuff I watch on cable is hockey, college football, some baseball, Indy Car racing, and the occasional Married with Children episode. I am a bit of an old relic.
I sure miss the old Speed Channel.

There are many more high quality shows online now (streaming) than there are on standard network and cable TV.
Network and cable TV is quickly becoming a dinosaur business model with the exception of the premium channels like HBO and Showtime.

A lot of the old Wings programs, Great Planes etc, are on YouTube
