Here's my DBX... Look OK (I will hang a Cargo Rack on it before departing)

Recluse DBX

Got the Focus Crystals, will pick up the Shock Mounts another time...they are easy to buy..

Actually, my DBX is now A rated. I believe it was D rated when I did the Guardian. The module types are still the same, however. Obviously, the FSD booster is a later addition.

Recluse of course your welcome to join us!

Cargo racks not necessary. If you do bring one keep it small.

DBond, if it makes you feel more comfortable having the extra SRV bring it. The SRV will take damage but you can repair it with mats if necessary. The reason for the PD on top of our ships is that when the sentinels fire their missiles our ships PD will shoot them down. Pretty cool to watch. DO NOT BUY SHOCK MOUNTS NOW!!! You'll buy them after you return from our voyage. You don't need to carry that cargo and limit your jump range.
****The hardest thing there is finding a spot to land. Thats why I strongly suggested the DBX. Bohemond got the thing in a great spot up front that won't fit an Asp. Though we did have 4 Asp's landed at the site last weekend. I don't know how Rotar found that other spot though.

With the Guardian Booster, I guess you can afford to A- rate and still have a good jump range. Where does the FSD Booster go? Utillity slot or do you need to free up an Internal of a certain size?

OK I will bag the Cargo Rack, Started heading out that way from Deciat after Engineering the FSD and already finding stations with OUTFITTING is getting tough. Hope to make it! I plan to get as close as I can before Thursday so I can meet you guys there. Currently 16 jumps away...which is not bad.

Recluse that build is just fine. Look forward to seeing you there.

Oh and someone had mentioned a Nav Beacon. None out here, their only in populated systems

Booster goes in Optional slots. I find most useful size 3 (7.75), but I use plenty of 5's in the ships that have the extra room.

OK, no shock mounts. Makes sense yeah, I didn't consider they would be cargo. Not sure what I thought they would be.

I just did another landing, and came back on to say that I can synthesize SRV repairs, as already mentioned. So that's good. I bumped in to enough rocks at high speed that I knocked 8% off and a basic repair fixed that right up. One SRV will be plenty.

So last night, Wingy led me to the site and I found a nice parking spot. He had to leave, so I went venturing out by myself. Shot down two Sentinels but I never got the Obelisks to rise. I drove around like crazy rechecking the YOUTUBE vid and the MAP, but I obviously never found the right spot. Looking forward to Thursday to git er done!

Hope I can find the parking spot again as the game indicates you are in DANGER and moves you when you quit in that position. Despite the fact that it seemed perfectly safe while buttoned up in the ship.

Honestly, finding a good parking spot is the worst part of it.

I think I'm all set. Well, aside from working out how to honk the system with the new mechanics. I'll look to square that away this evening.

I plotted a route to I Carinae, the departure station. I am about 90 LY closer to the target system. I've played Elite with others before, but never an expedition like this. On one hand, I could just sail from Dvorsi, it's just under 1000 LY from HD 63154, about 17 jumps in the DBX. On the other hand I want to experience all of the group stuff. So having us all gathered together would be really cool for me, as we set off. Once the first jump is fired though I imagine you're essentially on your own until the destination? How do you guys do it? With different ships, different jump ranges, scoop rates and so forth is it every man for himself, or do you attempt to travel as a group, staying together? That's impossible right?

Recluse, I'm glad you did some recon. I hooked up on TS with Wingy yesterday and we talked about it, as I'm sure you two did too. Thankfully he plans to find the pylons for us if I understand it correctly. While we are charging one, he will be looking to make the others pop up.

Honk will work the same as the old system or you can go into FSS and honk there, same result. The trip out is each on his own due to different jump range. When not doin a group trip, we are generally all on TS. Giving advice, joking, etc.

Wingy and I are already at the target, but I don't know if he plans to transit back to I Carinae. Maybe we should just rendezvous there. As you point out, it would be hard to synchronize the journey with different jump rates etc.. I will probably not be around tonight but will make it tomorrow. As bohemond said, PARKING was tough. At least we were there in daylight!! Wingy said that previously they had only been there in the dark which made things much more difficult.

Not sure where I will end up when I log back in... somewhere else on the surface or in orbit again...

Well, don't go to any trouble on my account. I can get my 'group stuff' fix at the site smile

I just envisioned us all flying out of the station together or something. No worries. If you're already there, don't go to any trouble on my account.

Thanks Bohemond. Even if it all still works the same, I either forgot how or I changed something. Let's say I just want to honk the system so the the target planet is revealed for me. What do I do? Switch modes? Which scanner? It was the ADS before. I did something that said there were 25 bodies on plane or something. Confused.

As far as I can tell the new Scanner works like this...

- HONK and you get a list of all the bodies.
-As you get near (I don't know the distance), the scanner will AUTOMATICALLY identify the bodies and log them into your system
-If you want to go into the FSS you can manually scan other bodies (I can never be bothered to do this other than searching USS on occasion)
-I forgot to bring a DSS with me to add to the EXPLORATION CREDITS...
- After honking, the SYSTEM MAP will show all the bodies, but they won't all be IDENTIFIED. From the NAV panel, I had no way to properly target for Body B3A but it was easy to do in the SYSTEM MAP

I just logged in and I was still on the surface nearby, but my ship had been moved from the landing spot 64 m from the Guardian Site to 216 m. Not bad...

Thanks much, and sorry to be obtuse, but how do I honk now? I used to bring up the firegroup with the ADS on it and pull my trigger and it scanned. Now?

I know it's painful explaining the most rudimentary tasks, but I need it smile

Alternatively, would it be possible to just fly toward where I see my friends in the system? And as I get close the planet would be revealed automatically?
